Well, they are certainly supple. Shadowfax Little Hampton Pinot Noir 2016Pinot noir from the Little Hampton vineyard makes it into the Shadowfax Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir but this is the single vineyard release. It’s from a one hectare plot of pinot noir planted in 1998/1999. This is only the second release but its reputation is on the fast rise. RRP has gone from $55 to $65 in the past year too.

Bubb and Pooley Pinot Noir 2021Coal River Valley. A wine made by lovely genuine people, which is neither here nor there when it comes to what’s in the glass, though it is nice to drink stuff that’s made by good people.
Dark cherry, violet and dried rose, cinnamon, this earthy almost wasabi spiciness too. It’s tight, but delivers dark cherry and dark raspberry in abundance, with a very specific and fetching slate/stony character, pure and cool in acidity, with a long ‘mineral’ finish. It delivers flavour, but there’s no excess here. Beautifully made. Classic Pinot Noir. GARY WALSH, winefront.com

The class of 2020 Tassie pinots at last years Melbourne Wine Awards was hotly contested from this excellent vintage. And this wine prevailed.
Light crimson colours with ruby hues. Brooding dark cherry and plum aromas evolve in the glass, ultimately revealing a lifted, sweet perfume of redcurrant, raspberry, dried thyme and subtle oak spice. Richly layered dark fruits provide a dense core with earthy undertones, Christmas cake and sweet tea driving vibrancy and length. A beautifully structured wine showing both power and finesse. Will reward cellaring.
Produced from the close-planted (8,300 vines per hectare) vines at Lowestoft planted in 1986. The fruit was hand-picked and matured in large-format French oak (35% new) for ten months.
