Faiveley Beaune Clos de lEcu 2019 1erAromas of plums, rich forest floor, warm spices and smoked meats introduce the 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de l'Écu Monopole, a medium-bodied, bright and elegant wine that's satiny and melting, with lively acids and fine, powdery tannins. This is as fine a rendition of the Clos de l'Écu as I can remember tasting. WILLIAM KELLEY, Wine Advocate2019Pinot noirFrance358
Peay Vineyards Scallop Shelf Pinot Noir 2017The 2017 Pinot Noir Estate Scallop Shelf is distinguished by its bright, focused personality and energy. As it often is, the Scallop Shelf is a wine of reserve and tension, showing plenty of savory and mineral character and less overt fruit than some of the other wines in the range. The 2017 is likely to require at least a few years to come into its own, but it is super-impressive. ANTONIO GALLONI2017Pinot noirUSA362
Jean Marc Bouley Volnay Vieilles Vignes 2016Bright red-ruby. Wild aromas of currant and silex minerality. Dense and fully ripe, with its suave black cherry, dark chocolate and licorice flavors showing good medicinal reserve. This very ripe village wine featured a lot of tiny grapes in 2016, according to Bouley. Has the concentration of material to support its firm tannins, which reach the incisors. Finishes with very good energy and a positive note of leather. This wine was aged in just 10% new oak. STEPHEN TANZER, vinous.com2016Pinot noirFrance358$157.00 As low as $141.30

Bruno Paillard Brut Millesime Assemblage 2008Bruno Paillard's citrus-colored 2008 Brut Assemblage Millésimé is a lean and lively, mineral palate-cleanser. It's a love-me-or-leave me cuvée comprised of 42% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir and 16% Pinot Meunier, selected from ten of the best terroirs the company is cultivating. During seven years in the winery, this intense and chalky, energetically fresh and silky textured Champagne has developed a gorgeous mix of white, red and yellow fruits that are quite prominent at the moment. There are lemon and grapefruit notes, as well as marzipan, floral and chalky mineral flavors. Disgorged in 2015 with five grams of dosage and equipped with a beautiful label from the Korean artist Bang Hai Ja, the 2008 is still a bit yeasty and reductive on the nose, and austerely dry on the palate. But it is still full of drive and energy. This is Champagne for wine freaks or thirsty throats. It will gain complexity over the next decade. Henri Gouges Nuits Chaignots 2017 1erAs is usually the case, this possesses the spiciest nose in the range and in 2017 is almost Vosne-like with its notes of plum, violet, pomegranate, sandalwood and Asian-style tea. It is also the most refined wine in the range as the vibrant medium weight flavors exude evident minerality on the chalky, lingering and well-balanced finale. If this can add depth with bottle age, it should merit the upper end of my range. BURGHOUND2017Pinot noirFrance358$200.00 As low as $180.00
Domaine de Bellene Vosne Romanee Les Quartiers de Nuits 2018 Vieilles Vignes
An overtly floral-suffused nose displays a lovely array of spice elements on the essence of red berry fruit aromas. I very much like the mid-palate mouthfeel of the sappy medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a powerful, rustic and mocha-inflected finish. This is quite a robust Vosne villages that will require at least some patience. BURGHOUND
Always one of the wines of the range. Exhibits all the kirsch cherry and silken texture of a classic Vosne with the addition of some nice Asian spice coming from the 50% whole cluster. MICHAEL McNAMARA2018Pinot noirFrance358Special Price $204.00 Regular Price $255.00

Taste of Tassie 2021 Super Six Pack
Tasmania has become such a hot-bed of awesome talent and great wine. As one of Australia's coolest wine growing regions pinot noir and chardonnay have excelled and sparkling wine still proves to be one of its crown jewels. These have been mainstays of the Apple Isle for some time and there looks this to be no stopping the tide of incredible examples of each making their way across the Tasman.
Fast-forward a generation and we are really starting to see what the verdant land can really turn out. In our mind some of the best Euro-styled rieslings are being produced there while the marginal climates and savvy wine-making are turning out some stellar textural pinot gris.
While pinot noir may reign supreme it is other reds like shiraz, that may, in time, prove to be something even more special. Time will tell and while it does we will happily sip our way through all that Tasmania's has to offer.$209.00 Regular Price $248.00

Vouette et Sorbee Blanc dArgile Brut Nature R156 BOTTLE LIMIT
The NV Brut Nature Blanc d'Argile is terrific. Vinous and rich on the palate, as these Champagnes are, it offers a striking interplay of fruit intensity and tension from the non-dosage style. With time in the glass, the wine gains precision and energy. ANTONIO GALLONI
"Intense yet fine and floral on the nose, this oak-fermented (you don't really get that aromatically!) Blanc de Blancs shows an iodine and almost floral (think of broom!), intense and vinous nose like a fine Chablis. The palate is round yet dry, firm and mineral until the long, tensioned, well-structured and very salty finish. This is a great mix of ripe, lush fruit, elegance, finesse and iodine flavors-so, where are the oysters? STEPHAN REINHARDT, Wine Advocate2015Pinot noirFrance376$230.00 As low as $207.00
Robert Chevillon Nuits Prulieres 2017 1er4 BOTTLE LIMIT
A distinctly earthy and somewhat somber nose possess notes of underbrush, the sauvage, dark currant and plum. The rich, concentrated and powerful medium weight flavors flesh both good minerality and excellent complexity on the solidly long and balanced if overtly rustic and very firm finish. This is a big wine in the context of the vintage and very Nuits in character. "Outstanding" BURGHOUND2017Pinot noirFrance358$230.00 As low as $207.00
Jane Eyre Gevrey Chambertin Corbeaux 1er 2017From the same producer as her Gevrey village. She’s been making this since 2015. Next to Mazis. 10% whole bunch. One of four barrels is new oak.
Mid garnet. Lots of minerally intensity and intrigue on the nose – very different from her other wines on the nose and with more race and tension, but still the same flattering, accessible, naked fruit. Well done! (17) JANCIS ROBINSON
This is the third vintage of this impressive premier cru from Australian micro-négogiant Jane Eyre, sourced from a single parcel next to Mazis-Chambertin. Pure, elegant and refined, it has cherry and raspberry aromas, subtle 25% new wood and just a hint of whole bunch sap. Textured, delicate and very long. Jane Eyre Gevrey Chambertin Corbeaux 2016 1er
There are three barrels of the 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux this year and it is due for bottling around February (indeed, there was a bit of reduction on the nose). It comes from a parcel adjacent to the lieu-dit of Mazis-Bas. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent red cherry and strawberry fruit, grainy in texture, a Corbeaux that exerts a gentle grip with impressive tension and sense of energy on the finish. This has great potential and may well surpass the 2015. NEAL MARTIN
First vintage 2015, from the same supplier as the Gevrey village wine. The parcel is right next to Mazis-Chambertin and Eyre sees some similarities to the Mazis fruit she used to have at Domaine Newman. Around 15% whole bunch. Three barrels, one new. Barrel sample. Eyre notes that it tends to be a bit reductive in the beginning, so it is bottled later than her other wines.
Darker and more savoury than the Savigny Vergelesses with a light charry note that is part reduction and part oak, I suspect. Succulent and lightly chewy texture though the tannins are very fine. Extremely moreish. The juicy fruit escapes around the edges and gives a long finish but a bit flattened by the oak at the moment. Wait. Jean Marc Bouley Volnay 1er Cru Les Carelles 2016More aromatic than the Caillerets, offering warmer, more demonstrative scents and flavors of redcurrant, tobacco, smoke and subtle spices. A spicy, inviting, fine-grained wine from a sunny spot protected from wind, with the iron element in the soil providing volume. This mellow premier cru boasts a seductive sweetness (and 13.6% natural alcohol). Finishes with nicely integrated, horizontal tannins and lovely length. Bouley refers to this vineyard as his baby (he was actually 14 years old when these vines were planted), noting that the site "has all the elements to make great, unctuous, red-soil wine. Domaine Beaumont Morey Staint Denis 1er Millandes 2006Les Millandes is below Clos Saint-Denis, the grand cru. The vines are very old and the wine is the most structured and rich of the Moreys we produce. During the winter of 1984-1985 it was very cold, -27C. A large part of the vines died and my father told me to replant the whole vineyard since it was old anyway. But I said that I would only replace the vines that had died, so I replanted 30-35 percent. Henri Boillot Volnay Chevrets 2018
The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, rose petals, cassis and violets. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with an ample chassis of powdery tannins, fine concentration and succulent acids. From a parcel of 58-year-old vines, this is a quintessentially elegant Volnay that should also drink well young. WILLIAM KELLEY, Wine Advocate2018Pinot noirFrance358

Aromas are ripe and complex, the palate showing dense, fine fruit, with gentle tannins which coat the mouth, without bitterness. The wine has splendid, fresh length, and is recommended for laying down at least 3-5 years after bottling. ANTHONY HANSON MW2015Pinot noirFrance358
