An elegant and airy nose displays notes of citrus, white peach, acacia blossom and a whiff of anise. The refined but concentrated and palate coating medium-bodied flavors exude an intense minerality, indeed the mouthfeel is almost Chablis-like, that carries over to the very dry, focused and lingering finale. The 2019 Château des Quarts is the joint venture between Olivier and Corinne Merlin and Dominique Lafon after they bought the estate in 2012. The soil here is deep clay that engenders a more powerful wine that Merlin compared to Chablis. It does have a very powerful bouquet with yellow plum, orange pith, white chocolate and chamomile. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly honeyed opening and a fine bead of acidity. Hints of stem ginger and lemongrass on the finish fan out wonderfully. Excellent. NEAL MARTIN, vinous.com
