Clos des Fées 'Modeste' Rouge 2017Clos des Fées is relatively new in the wine world, beginning in 1998, when Herve and Claudine settled in Vingrau, on the high cool slopes of the northern edge of Roussillon. Buying up old and often abandoned vineyards from these high slopes, Herve has gradually amassed dozens of tiny plots, of which many are magnificent mature vineyards spread throughout these cooler slopes.
Hand harvested, tiny yields of perfectly ripe fruit using minimal SO2 during the winemaking process resulting in wines show remarkable finesse and freshness. PWS
"...wines that have turned heads every bit as much as does the local scenery and brought Bizeul well-deserved recognition as a beacon of Roussillon quality. ROBERT PARKER, The Wine Advocate
A blend of 60% Grenache and 20% Syrah and 20% Cinsault made in a fresh bright slurpable style with strawberry and rose garden aromatics and pale colour yet packed with flavour and freshness and finesse. So pretty and engaging with lovely depth and texture and could be slightly chilled for best effect. PWS
Crafted to be a fresh, easy-drinking red, the 2017 IGP Cotes Catalanes Modeste is light to medium-bodied, with ripe scents and flavors of black cherries, silky tannins and a crisp finish. It's a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. The Wine Advocate

Las Cepas de Curro 2018
This wine, hailing from the Jerez/Sherry region of Spain, is composed of Moscatel and Palomino. Strong minerality on the nose and the palate, with a floral, citrusy bouquet make this a pleasure to drink. Its freshness coupled with a bit of texture on the palate speak to the care taken in the vinification and to the quality of the wine. Astoundingly good value. PWS2018France418$20.00 As low as $18.00
Courbissac Vin de France L'orange 2017One of the most beautiful examples of the orange wine style I have ever tasted. Made from a blend of local textural white grapes including grenache gris, terret gris and carignan blanc, plus some perfumed marsanne and muscat, all fermented on skins for a week before being pressed off into tank and bottled. This "infusion" of grapes produces a pale, copper-coloured wine with ethereal floral scents and the gentlest grip on the tongue. Caves de Pouilly Les Tuileries Coteaux du Giennois Sur Loire Rouge 2018The Caves de Poulliy wines are sourced from the relatively new appellation of Cotteaux de Giennois which sits in the upper Loire just north of Sancerre. It shares the same kimeridgian clay and limestone soils commone to the region which give the wines their distinctive, minerally twang.
These are such cracking wines that are terroir driven and unique as well as being stupidly drinkable. Ther is a white that is baby Sancerre and this red which is blend of mainly pinot noir with a touch of gamay. It's all about the pure red fruits and crunchy earthy spice which jumps out at you. It's bright and brambly and you can smell the clay soils. Airy and easy but with a spike of fresh tannin that cuts the juicy fruit. All-in-all pretty easy to get through a bottle of this with a friend so you better buy two! PWS

Les Vignerons Vermentino Colombard 2016Les Vignerons is a brilliant new value range from one of the ubiquitous cooperatives of southern France. However, unlike the many anonymous wines these outfits are known for, Les Vignerons was born from a different concept. Here, a group of grape growers agitated for more input into the finished product and as a result they were permitted to work with a parcel of their own grapes and with the assistance of the coop winemaker produced their own set of wines. They are all blends of a maximum of two varieties and display good fruit expression, clean winemaking, and deliver excellent value for money.
This Vermentino and Colombard blend is a straight as an arrow. Saline, crisp and bright with a very subtle textural naunce. PWS2016Blend, White BlendFrance418$15.00 As low as $13.50
July Premium 6-pack 2021 - Le Tour French 6-packIt's been a while but it's time again for one of the sport world's most gruelling events - The Tour de France. We have in years past done this as a mixed dozen but this year we have got a cracking 6-pack that you can follow along with as the tour progresses from the comfort of your living room couch. If we can't be there in person then we can at least be there in spirit!
This year we are starting in the Loire Valley with a quick stop in Burgundy before heading off to tackle the long climb and final ascent to the Val Claret. After that we make our way south to the warm reaches of the Rhone valley where we continue west into the Midi and through some of France most rustic and picturesque country. And lastly, on to Bordeaux!
