Made predominantly from Tinta Negra Mole--with 10% Verdelho in this case-- Henriques & Henriques 3 Year Old blends are produced in an estufa process specifically set up for these wines. They are then aged in oak casks for 3 years prior to bottling. According to legend, "Rainwater" was the result of two pipes of Madeira inadvertently left exposed to the elements while awaiting shipment. The adulterated/diluted wine was apparently well received and thus a style was born. Henriques' version is elegant, golden-coloured wine with vibrant fruitiness and subtle nut hints, finishing with a tangy aftertaste. This bottling makes an excellent aperitif, a partner to light desserts, or as a modifier in a variety of cocktail recipes.

"The bouquet is a nice blend of walnuts, orange peel, a fine base of salty soil tones, a bit of lemon and a topnote of laurel. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely balanced at its notably richer style for Rainwater, with good acidity and good length and grip..." JOHN GILMAN, A View From The Cellar
