  1. Brokenwood Hunter Semillon 2018 375ml
    Brokenwood Hunter Semillon 2018 375ml
From one of the Hunters and Australia's most classic producers. Brokenwood have continued to write their legacy based on quality and consistency that is undeniable. Wether you are a Hunter fan or not (plus with all their Beechworth you don't need to be) they are undeniably one of the greatest producer this country has seen. PWS

Ever reliable, but this was a vintage that threw down the gauntlet to the semillons across the Valley (in contrast to the shirazs). There's plenty of flavour, but the structure is slightly loose. Drink up. JAMES HALLIDAY
  2. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2017 375ml
Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2017 375ml
Saturated ruby. Ripe black raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of cracked pepper, allspice and pungent flowers. Supple, appealingly sweet red and blue fruit preserve flavors gain energy with air, and a bright mineral element adds back-end lift. Supple tannins add shape to a persistent, floral-accented finish, which leaves cherry and spice notes behind. JOSH RAYNOLDS

How Guigal year after year extracts such quality from such volume is astonishing. Famous for paying his growers well above market value for their grapes is probably the key. The fact that he treats this wine with every care and respect that her treats his upper eschelon wines is probably the other. Either way this is one of the most consistent wines to come out of France. PWS

  3. Oakridge LVS Willow Lake Chardonnay 2018 375ml
Oakridge LVS Willow Lake Chardonnay 2018 375ml

Winemaker and CEO David Bicknell has proved his worth time and again as an extremely talented winemaker. JAMES HALLIDAY

What is there to say about this superb Yarra Valley winery. Headed up by Dave Bicknell it feels like they can do no wrong. Everything they make from top to bottom is deftly put together and sourced from the Yarra's best vineyards. The quality is always outstanding and the LVS (local vineyard series) is some of the best value Pinot and Chardonnay around. PWS

I’ve probably said it before, and anyone who knows me knows I’m prone to repeating myself, but what a lovely evocative name it is for a vineyard.

It doesn’t need any styling products; there’s not a hair out of place here. White peach and lime, green melon, almond nougat, a whisper of struck match and spice. Smooth and flavoursome, a subtle viscosity interlaid with chalk and flint, some floral mouth-perfume, slight tweak to the finish with citrus rind and grapefruit tang. Right proper Chardonnay here. GARY WALSH, The Wine Front

  4. Gutierrez Colosia Fino del Puerto NV 375ml
Gutierrez Colosia Fino del Puerto NV 375ml

The NV Fino has a delicate nose that suggests a limited time under flor with roasted almonds, flowers and balsamic herbs. The palate is much more powerful, medium-bodied, intense, and dry, with a bitter end. Drink 2013-2014. LUIS GUTIERREZ

The wine is lovely – pretty well a mid-point between Manzanilla and Jerez Finos in style. Coastal, but less overtly briny than La Goya. Delicately earthy with constrained power, like a baby Jerez wine. TSA

  5. Chateau du Rouet Cuvee Reserve Cotes de Provence Rose 2019 375ml
Chateau du Rouet Cuvee Reserve Cotes de Provence Rose 2019 375ml

The Château du Rouët is situated, at the foot of the red rock mountains, nearby the Roman town of Fréjus. Once a Templière farm, the Château is now settled at the foot of the Rouët mountain range, a volcanic bar of red ochre, at an altitude of 560 metres with five generations of rich history inter-twined though this impressive estate.

The vines, set between the Gorges de Pennafort and The Gorges du Blavet, are spread out over 70 hectares of preserved area, classed as Natura 2000. Oriented towards the South and they benefit from the Mistral as well as the breeze from the seaside which maintain freshness and acidity from the otherwise warm Mediterranean climate.

Around 60% Grenache with 30% Cinsault and a touch of the traditional Tibourenc grape the harvests are done at night to maintain freshness and the light maceration’s performed in temperature controlled tanks to help maintain a wonderful lift to the wines. PWS

Brilliant onion skin color. Fresh red berry and tangerine aromas show good clarity and pick up a subtle floral nuance with air. Juicy and silky in texture, offering subtly sweet strawberry and citrus fruit flavors and a hint of honeysuckle. Finishes smooth and well-focused, leaving a hint of candied orange zest behind. JOSH RAYNOLDS, Vinous.com

  6. Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay 2020 375ml
Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay 2020 375ml
Lightly but not excessively reductive on the nose. Already quite expansive on the nose with beautiful impact on the palate: citrus, blossom and really neat acidity without much astringency. Elegant and racy – almost lightweight on the mid palate and then it is impressively persistent. A thorough delight already. JANCIS ROBINSON

We love the wines at Kumeu River. This is one of the best 'new world' Chardonnay producers that remains a surprising secret for many a Chardonnay lover. The estate is a blend of several of the sites worked by Kumeu and always has a softer more delicate air then some of the more powerful single vineyard bottlings. The 2020 is another wonderful effort. 7. William Fevre Chablis 2019 375ml
    William Fevre Chablis 2019 375ml

A sleeper of the vintage, Fèvre's 2019 Chablis Village opens in the glass with notes of citrus oil, white flowers, crisp green apple and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it's taut and concentrated, with racy acids and a long, chalky finish. Produced from some 40 hectares of vineyards, averaging around 50 years old, this was cropped at yields of 43 hectoliters per hectare. Unusually intense and structured, readers willing to give this cuvée a bit of bottle age will be rewarded. WILLIAM KELLEY, Wine Advocate

From 50 year old vines, with a yield of 46 hl/ha in 2019. Pale lime green. The Domaine version of William Fèvre Chablis offers a classical nose, leaner than, some, yet with intensity on the palate., some of the iodine character is present, but strong fresh citrus fruit too. Exceptional length. Lemongrass acidity. JASPER MORRIS MW

This is aromatically similar to the Champs Royaux with a slightly more pronounced mineral reduction character. There is however better density and intensity to the focused yet opulent medium-bodied flavors that exhibit impressive power for a villages level wine… BURGHOUND

  8. Trimbach Reserve Riesling 2018 375ml
    Trimbach Reserve Riesling 2018 375ml
Trimbach is at the summit of dry white winemaking. CLIVE COATEDS M.W.

With viticultural origins going back to 1626 this family owned estate produces some of the finest wines not only of Alsace, but indeed the entire world of wine. Around the villages of Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr, the Trimbach family owns 57 hectares of vineyards from some of the most famed sites in the region.

The reserve wines are sourced from rigorously selected grapes grown in and around Ribeauville and surrounding villages. They are fermented dry and text book example of classic Alsace fair.

Quince, pear and apple with a touch of mandarin open to an exotic and layered nose. There is a touch of lime zest and white pepper folded into the soft fruits. The clean pristine fruit is sliced down the middle of the palate with a racy, tight quartz-mineral core. On the close the palate shifts toward more tropical notes and a sense of opulence that is kept in check by a dry and mineral finish. PWS
  9. Torbreck The Struie 2018 375ml
    Torbreck The Struie 2018 375ml
The Struie is a blend of both Barossa Valley floor fruit and higher Eden Valley fruit which relects the cooler side of the regions and for us has made it one of the go-to wines from Torbeck.

The Eden fruit is sourced from vineyards sitting between 400 - 50 metres and lends a lovely focus to the fruit with a distinct line of fesh, minerally acidity, notable blue fruits and fine grain tannins. The marriage of 40 year old vines in the Eden and 80 year old vines in the Barossa off up the perfect marriage of elegance and intensity. PWS

The Struie is a wonderfully aromatic and deeply concentrated wine produced from the harmonious combination of both regions, delivering layers of dark chocolate characters and defining structure. Nuances of plum, blackberries, violets and hidden spice characters all further enhance the natural elegance and tension of the fruit quality. The Struie will certainly age tremendously well over the next decade. TORBECK
  10. Equipo Navazos I Think Manzanilla Saca de February de 2020 375ml
Equipo Navazos I Think Manzanilla Saca de February de 2020 375ml
It's hard to believe that Equipo Navazos will celebrate their 15th anniversary next year and already produce around 40,000 bottles of wine, mainly sherry, per year. They are responsible for putting sherry back in the spotlight.

I tasted the numbered bottlings, the rare and more complex wines from 82 through to 93 and the regular bottlings and collaborations with other producers. You might notice some numbers are missing, because they also release small batches of spirits aged in sherry casks (like the extraordinary La Bota de Gin 81), but I haven't yet started tasting and rating spirits. LUIS GUTIRREZ, eRObertParker.com

They bottle this once a year, every year and it offers ridiculous quality for the money. This is the latest bottling too so is extremely fresh and vibrant. Sea spray and green apple, with crushed shells. Wonderfully textured yet beautifully fresh and full of life. PWS
  11. Querciabella Chianti Classico 2018 375ml
    Querciabella Chianti Classico 2018 375ml
The 2018 Chianti Classico is classy, polished and exceptionally beautiful. Like so many wines in 2018, the Chianti Classico is aromatic and gracious in feel, more finesse than power. Silky tannins wrap around a core of bright Sangiovese fruit. From start to finish, the 2018 is all class. ANTONIO GALLONI

This remarkable estate is the life-long passion of Sebastiano Cossia Costiglioni and before him his father, Guiseppe, who planted the first vines at the estate as a hobby in the early 1970's. Giacomo Tacchis and Guido di Santi were bought on in the formative years as winemaking consultants and directed the estate to biodynamics.

Today the estate's technical direction is overseen by another of Italy's greatest winemaking talents in Luca Currado of famed Piemontese producer, Vietti, while day-to-day running of the estate's vineyards and winemaking is handled by a passionate team led by Dales D'Allesandro and Manfred Ing. New investment in the cellars over the past years will also continue to push the quality of the wines to new levels and maintain Querciabella at the top of the Chianti tree. PWS
  12. Chateau Thivin Cotes du Brouilly Sept Vignes 2019 375ml
Chateau Thivin Cotes du Brouilly Sept Vignes 2019 375ml
Thivin's 2019 Côte de Brouilly unwinds in the glass with inviting aromas of plums, red berries, warm spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, it's bright and precise, with fine depth at the core and real energy, concluding with a long, gently tannic finish. A touch finer-boned and more dynamic than the gourmand, demonstrative 2018, this is showing very well. WILLIAM KELLEY, robertparker.com
  13. Faiveley Mercurey La Framboisiere 2019 375ml
Faiveley Mercurey La Framboisiere 2019 375ml
The finest rendition of this cuvée that I've ever tasted, Faiveley's 2019 Mercurey La Framboisière wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet berry fruit, warm spices, rose petals and plums. Medium-bodied, fleshy and precise, with lively acids and excellent depth at the core, it's deep and unusually serious, with all the charm but less of the frivolity that this cuvée has historically displayed. It derives from an 11-hectare parcel—part of which was planted in 1990 and the rest of which is old massal selections—that was vinified with 15% whole cluster and matured in 20% new oak. WILLIAM KELLEY, Wine Advocate
