  1. Guigal Cotes-du-Rhone Rouge 2017 1500ml
    Guigal Cotes-du-Rhone Rouge 2017 1500ml
Saturated ruby. Ripe black raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of cracked pepper, allspice and pungent flowers. Supple, appealingly sweet red and blue fruit preserve flavors gain energy with air, and a bright mineral element adds back-end lift. Supple tannins add shape to a persistent, floral-accented finish, which leaves cherry and spice notes behind. JOSH RAYNOLDS, Vinous

  2. Bernard Metrat Fleurie 'La Roilette' Beaujolais 2019 1500ml
Bernard Metrat Fleurie 'La Roilette' Beaujolais 2019 1500ml
From vines planted 1924 and 1936. La Roilette is regarded as one of the best sites in Fleurie, and this old vines cuvee (60-90+ years old vines) is produced from a patch of vines planted in pink granite-clay soil located beside the winery in the northern part of the appellation beside Moulin-a-Vent. 15% of this cuvee is vinified in barrel (none new) giving extra dimension to its freshness and perfume, will also age for 10+ years. This is Gamay at it's finest and beautifully perfumed best. PWS

La Roilette cru sits on very deep black granite. Historically, La Roilette used to be part of Moulin-à-Vent, which borders it to the east. In 1920, when Fleurie was demarcated, La Roilette ended up in Fleurie. This wine comes from vines planted in the 1920s and 1930s, and it has amazing density and precision. 4. Head Wines The Contrarian Syrah Marananga 2014 1500ml
Head Wines The Contrarian Syrah Marananga 2014 1500ml
From Marananga and less contrarian than it used to be. Apparently men get more conservative as they age, and women become more radical, liberal.
Boysenberry and dark cherry, that exotic Chinese five spice thing going on, pastis and some dark chocolate. Medium bodied, fluid and smooth, with a crunch to the acidity and a gentle graininess to the firm tannin. Has some salt beef flavours in there that you see in a lot of modern Barossa Shiraz, though they don’t bother me so much in this wine. Needs a year or two to soften, like a good pair of jeans. Just over the line for a 94 point finish. GARY WALSH winefront.com.au May 2015

  5. Chateau Montlandrie 2016 1500ml
    Chateau Montlandrie 2016 1500ml

    CASTILLON-CÔTES DE BORDEAUX

The 2016 Montlandrie is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon picked between 3-17 October. It was picked at 40 hectoliters per hectare and raised in 60% new oak (although my sample was from a one-year-old barrel). It is the first vintage to include more than 80% of the vines that were planted by Denis Durantou after 2008. This has a more broody bouquet than the two Lalande-de-Pomerols, just a touch of leafiness originating from the Cabernet Sauvignon that enhances the complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine structure, more saline than the Les Cruzelles, backward at the moment, but the Cabernets impart some lovely graphite notes on the saline finish. Superb. Expect this to land towards the top of my banded score once in bottle. (91-93) NEAL MARTIN

The 2016 Montlandrie is powerful and bold to its core. Layers of dense, dark fruit, chocolate, lavender spice and sweet oak saturate the palate. Dense and voluptuous, this racy wine from Denis Durantou is packed and ready to deliver maximum pleasure upon release. Tasted two times. (88-91) ANTONIO GALLONI

Patrick Piuze Chablis Terroir de Chablis 2018 1500mL
    ONLY BOTTLED IN MAGNUMS
From north-facing plots, adjacent to Vaillons and Forets. Quite exotic with fresh, ripe apricot and mango aromas, leading to a full-ish palate that’s really fleshy and packed with flavor. Open and so delicious. NICK STOCK, jamessuckling.com

The 2018 Chablis Terroir de Chablis shows the more exotic, tropical side of the year - qualities that are further amplified by clay-rich soils in this parcel that give the wine its breadth. Creamy and generous, the 2018 will drink well upon release. Dried orchard fruit and flinty notes add character. This distinctive wine really stands out among the village bottlings in the range. 7. Andre Clouet Grande Reserve NV 1500ml
Andre Clouet Grande Reserve NV 1500ml

    ANDRE CLOUET (9/10)

Bouzy and Ambonnay are the epicentre of pinot noir in Champagne, and the Clouet family is the priviledged custodian of eight hectares of estate vines in the best middle slopes of both villages.  These are rich and concentrated expressions of pinot noir, wines of deep complexity, multi faceted interest and engaging character, yet with remarkable restraint and sense of control.  Recent tastings confirm my impression that this small and relatively unknown grower ranks high among Champagne's finest practitioners of pinot noir - and expresses one of the best value of all.

100% Bouzy and Ambonnay pinot noir.  6g/L dosage
Release after release, year after year, I have always marvelled at the lemon blossom freshness that Clouet manages to capture in pinot noir from two of Champagne's most powerful terroirs.  Here it is again, in a captivating interplay of fleshy mirabelle plums, white peaches, crunchy golden delicious apples, and even a hint of pepper.  Wild honey and mixed spice join the maelstrom along the way, gliding obediently into a well defined finish of soft minerality and integrated dosage.
TYSON STELZER, The Champagne Guide 2014-2015

(100% Pinot Noir)The NV Brut Grande Reserve offers up layers of mineral-infused red fruits on a silky, mid-weight frame, with gorgeous length and a refined, subtle mousse. This impeccable, elegant wine shows terrific overall balance as well as complexity. I loved it. Andre Clouet is based in Bouzy, a village where Pinot Noir speaks with great eloquence, as is evident in these superb, pedigreed Champagnes.

  8. Kooyong Faultline Chardonnay 2019 1500ml
    Kooyong Faultline Chardonnay 2019 1500ml

Kooyong and Faultline; puts me in mind of tennis. Well, anyone for tennis? And Chardonnay?

It’s juicy, but quite tight and refined too. Pink grapefruit, wheatgerm and vanilla wafers, spice and nectarine. Zesty and intense flavour, firm flinty and slightly dusty texture, tight acidity, good grip, almond and zesty sweet citrus flavours on a long and chalky finish. I like it a little more than the Farrago, though that’s more a stylistic preference over quality. GARY WALSH, winefront.com

  9. Andre Clouet Rose No.3 NV 1500ml
Andre Clouet Rose No.3 NV 1500ml

100% Bouzy and Ambonnay pinot noir; 2012 base vintage
Jean-Francois 'Clouet No 3' was inspired by Coco Chanel, the number introduced for the first time this year to denote the style, recognising that the colour is different each year, and with the number 3 representing a light,  elegant aperitif style.  Elegance and freshness are his goals for rose, avoiding what he describes as the 'full, rustic and heavy" styles of the past.

Clouet's rose epitomises elegance and focus, while flamboyantly celebrating the generous red cherry, strawberry, watermelon and pink pepper fruit of Bouzy.  It encapsulates that wonderful talent of pinot noir to build and rise on the finish, all the while retaining graceful precision as delicate as rose petal perfume.  Structure is fine and elegant, driven both by chalk minerality of the village and a very finely executed tannin presence.  It finishes with great length and poise of exquisite red cherry fruit.  A pristine and enticingly priced rose. Older disgorgements have taken on savoury suggestions of tamarillo, while upholding their primary integrity.  TYSON STELZER

    Sociando Mallet 2015 1500ml
One of the standouts of the vintage, the 2015 Sociando Mallet is all finesse. Light on its feet, gracious and super-expressive, the 2015 speaks to class above all else. The flavors are bright and beautifully lifted in this polished, sophisticated Haut-Médoc. Although a touch light, the 2015 is very pretty. The blend is 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. 90  ANTONIO GALLONI

    PAUILLAC - 5th Growth

The 2016 Haut-Bages Libéral has turned out beautifully. Rose petals, lavender and sweet red cherry are some of the notes that grace this fine, translucent Pauillac. Medium in body and precise, with exquisite finesse and nuance, the 2016 is incredibly expressive today. This is a fabulous showing from proprietor Claire Villars Lurton. (95) ANTONIO GALLONI

San Filippo Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucere 2013 1500ml
Subtle and complete aromas of cherry, flowers, and orange peel. Full body, round and velvety tannins. So pretty and refined. Polished. A gorgeous wine. Drink or hold. (96) JAMES SUCKLING

Bright red. Perfumed aromas and flavors of pink flowers, sour red cherry and strawberry. Fresh and juicy but also dense and deep, this boasts captivating sugar-acid-tannin balance. Finishes long and perfumed; despite its sneaky concentration and size, it also has a light-on-its-feet quality that is very typical of this wine. IAN D'AGATA, Vinous

  13. Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo San En Piasi Magnum 2016
Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo San En Piasi Magnum 2016
The 2016 Barolo San enPiAsi is quite possibly the most elegant and finessed wine I have ever tasted at Alessandria. It was done with hand-destemmed fruit and saw a longer period of time on the skins than the other Barolos, about 15-20 days. Aromatic, floral and beautifully lifted, this mid-weight, gracious Barolo is ethereal and so wonderfully inviting, with exceptional balance and tons of sheer class. ANTONIO GALLONI

  14. Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo San En Piasi Magnum 2017
Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo San En Piasi Magnum 2017
The 2017 Barolo EnPiasì is such a pleasure to taste. A whole range of floral and savory nuances open first, suggesting the presence of whole clusters, even though the wine is made entirely from grapes that have been destemmed by hand. Silky, nuanced and beautifully persistent in the glass, the 2017 is a Barolo of pure and total finesse. I would prefer to drink it over the next 10-15 years, a bit of youthful Nebbiolo tannin notwithstanding, as it would be a shame to miss out on the extraordinary purity of fruit that is present at this stage. 15. Pol Roger Vintage 2012 1500ml
    Pol Roger Vintage 2012 1500ml
Disgorged in October 2018, the 2012 Brut Vintage offers up aromas of smoky peach, apples, pastry cream, white flowers and mandarin. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and powerful, with more volume and amplitude than its blanc de blancs counterpart, revealing racy balancing acids, an already refined mousse and the impressive concentration that typifies this low-yielding vintage. It's a classic blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay that saw seven grams per liter dosage. WILLIAM KELLEY, The Wine Advocate
