  1. Bloody Hill Villages Pinot Noir Healesville 2021
Bloody Hill Villages Pinot Noir Healesville 2021
The first pinot to be made from vines Rivar planted three years ago at their home property in Healesville, Bloody Hill. Rivar was given a patch of great dirt and free reign and should be proud of this first run. All the fruit is destemmed so the focus is on a core of red cherries, rosehip and a subtle meaty edge.  This is fluid and flowing on the palate and is a lovely glass of Yarra Valley pinot. 2. Lacourte Godbillon Terroirs d’Ecueil Brut NV
Lacourte Godbillon Terroirs d’Ecueil Brut NV
The NV Premier Cru Extra Brut Mi-Pentes is a selection of parcels that are located on the mid-slopes around the village of Écueil. It's pure Pinot Noir that is mostly (70%) from the 2014 vintage, complemented by 30% from the 2013 vintage, and 20% of the cuvée was fermented in oak. The wine offers a pure and fruity yet still lean and rather reductive bouquet. On the palate, this is a very fresh, pure, mineral and tensioned Pinot Noir with good grip and lingering salinity and structure. Still very young, this should benefit from further bottle aging. Disgorged in July 2017 with three grams of dosage. Tight and fresh, it still needs some time. Tasted in April 2018. STEPHAN REINHARDT, The Wine Advocate

  3. Bruno Paillard Brut Premiere Cuvee NV
Bruno Paillard Brut Premiere Cuvee NV
Pinot noir leads this accurate, well-crafted aperitif style of elegant finesse and persistence. A primary red cherry, wild strawberry and lemon fruit focus is underlined by taut acidity and expressive chalk mineral depth. Nuances of honey, anise and ginger are building as it gains maturity. It's clean and taut, a low dosage keeping the finish fresh and lively. TYSON STELZER

  6. Bruno Paillard Brut Millesime Assemblage 2008
Bruno Paillard Brut Millesime Assemblage 2008
Bruno Paillard's citrus-colored 2008 Brut Assemblage Millésimé is a lean and lively, mineral palate-cleanser. It's a love-me-or-leave me cuvée comprised of 42% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir and 16% Pinot Meunier, selected from ten of the best terroirs the company is cultivating. During seven years in the winery, this intense and chalky, energetically fresh and silky textured Champagne has developed a gorgeous mix of white, red and yellow fruits that are quite prominent at the moment. There are lemon and grapefruit notes, as well as marzipan, floral and chalky mineral flavors. Disgorged in 2015 with five grams of dosage and equipped with a beautiful label from the Korean artist Bang Hai Ja, the 2008 is still a bit yeasty and reductive on the nose, and austerely dry on the palate. But it is still full of drive and energy. This is Champagne for wine freaks or thirsty throats. It will gain complexity over the next decade. STEPHAN REINHARDT, The Wine Advocate
