    Weihenstephaner Kristal 500ml
In our golden-yellow crystal-clear wheat beer the fresh citrus flavour harmonises very well with spicy banana notes. The fine sparkling gives it a tangy and animated appearance. Throughout summer and winter, it’s a prickling experience. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat or it can be enjoyed as an aperitif. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

  3. Les Vignerons Vermentino Colombard 2016
    Les Vignerons Vermentino Colombard 2016
Les Vignerons is a brilliant new value range from one of the ubiquitous cooperatives of southern France. However, unlike the many anonymous wines these outfits are known for, Les Vignerons was born from a different concept. Here, a group of grape growers agitated for more input into the finished product and as a result they were permitted to work with a parcel of their own grapes and with the assistance of the coop winemaker produced their own set of wines. They are all blends of a maximum of two varieties and display good fruit expression, clean winemaking, and deliver excellent value for money.

This Vermentino and Colombard blend is a straight as an arrow. Saline, crisp and bright with a very subtle textural naunce. PWS

  4. Domaine de Triennes Rose 2020 375ml
Domaine de Triennes Rose 2020 375ml
A winery with great pedigree, Triennes is a joint venture between Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and is located in the Var, to the East of Aix en Provence.

Farmed organically since 2008, the aim of the estate is to produce wines that speak clearly of the bright sky and diverse terroirs of the region. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cinsault, Merlot, Grenache and Viognier provide the raw materials for their stunning range of wines from their pale, savoury rose through to the characterful rich reds for which Provence has become famous.

We've said it before but year after year this is always such a lovely bottling. Hints of wild strawberry, a touch of red currant and fresh cut peach all jostle in an airy and fragrant nose. Not too heavy, not too light it has lovely plush fruit under-pinned by gentle acidity. It would be a chameleon on the table pairing with so many foods. PWS

  5. Jules Mediterranean Rose 2019
    Jules Mediterranean Rose 2019
Hugh and Jane Faulkner fell in love with a vineyard, situated on the foothills of the Masif des Maures, in the centre of the Var, and settled at the property in 1989. Their eldest son Julian would eventually take over the running of the vineyard in 2000. A shrewd wine businessman and talented vigneron, Julian established the Jules label with the mission to craft delicious, accessible, and great value wines with single estate personality.

Another killer Rose from Jules and one of those wines you ask yourself how they can do it for the money? Hints of citrus peel, fresh cut fennel and cranberry/red currant fruits on the nose follow into a juicy palate of crunchy, bright red fruit with a white pepper finish. Really juicy and bright but perfectly dry and eminently drinkable. Now under screwcap how can you go wrong? You would be crazy to not have a dozen of waiting in the wings for every time someone drops by for a drink on the patio or that last minute BBQ invite. PWS

  6. Chateau Coupe Roses Fremillant Rose 2020
Chateau Coupe Roses Fremillant Rose 2020

Situated in La Caunette, a small and beautiful village in Minervois, just close to the Montagne Noire the family of Françoise Le Calvez, his parents, son and daughter have created something incredibly special from this little corner they have carved out in the Mediterranean hinterlands.

Today the vineyard holdings total 143 acres with an assortment of some 40 plots in total, mostly on the mountain plateau standing high above their village of La Caunette. At 750 – 1350 ft above sea level these are some of the highest sites in the AOC. The warm days and cool nights result in one the longest growing seasons in the region. Regardless the wine remain wonderfully fresh and vibrant.

A wonderful Provence style rose but with a little extra meat on it bones. The high mourvedre count gives this a beautiful earthy spice element that lingers gently over red and black currant fruit, orange peel and pithy citrus fruit. Still in the medium bodied category this has a little extra heft and comes of feeling firm and full as well as bright and fresh. Juicy fruits and a spicy finish bring it all together nicely.

  7. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2017 375ml
Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2017 375ml
Saturated ruby. Ripe black raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of cracked pepper, allspice and pungent flowers. Supple, appealingly sweet red and blue fruit preserve flavors gain energy with air, and a bright mineral element adds back-end lift. Supple tannins add shape to a persistent, floral-accented finish, which leaves cherry and spice notes behind. JOSH RAYNOLDS

How Guigal year after year extracts such quality from such volume is astonishing. Famous for paying his growers well above market value for their grapes is probably the key. The fact that he treats this wine with every care and respect that her treats his upper eschelon wines is probably the other. Either way this is one of the most consistent wines to come out of France. PWS

Opens with crème de mure, wild forest fruits and summer raspberries. Plenty of mulled spices and wild herbs. The palate is full and ripe with a tangy hit of salty liquorice on the close. The tannins are soft and plush and provide a nice frame for the fruit to hang off. PWS

  9. Gunderloch Fritz Riesling 2020
    Gunderloch Fritz Riesling 2020

How do they do it? This has been a PWS favourite for some time now and it never fails to deliver. Made by Rheinhessen legends Gunderloch with vineyards  close to the Rhines south-east steep slopes. The combination of the red slate soil, the proximity to the river, the exposure to the sun and the steepness of the vineyards - are perfect for producing wonderful ripeness. If you are a German riesling fan it would be hard to beat this for the sheer quality and insane value it represents.

The wine shows lovely stone fruit, peach and pithy characters as it opens in the glass. There is a salty mineral hit to that is really lovely. The fresh natural acidity zip through the ripe and spice flecked palate while a little aromatic lift gives this some real interest. Dry, fresh and full of character. PWS

  10. Des Grande Esperances Java Rouge 2019
Des Grande Esperances Java Rouge 2019
This is a cracking Blend of gamay 60% malbec 20% and cabernet Franc 20% made by the team at Domaines de Grande Esperances. They are geared towards quality production and organic farming base in the Loire Valley and working with about 24 hectares of land and 8 varietals. These are fun and delicious wines that don't take themselves to seriously but still over-deliver in spades.

A lifted fruit punch of red fruits - think strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry and red currant that leap out of the glass. A wild spicy note carries the bold fruit turning round into lovely savoury peppery sprinkles. There is a light lick of tannin that keeps this all-in check. Yum!

  11. Chateau Fontareche Corbieres Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2019
Chateau Fontareche Corbieres Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2019
The Fontarèche property, at the heart of Corbiere, has a long, illustrious and noble history dating back to 1201. Current proprietor, Jacques de Lamy took over from his father, Count Edouard de Lamy in 1957 where the de Lamy family has been in charge of the property since 1682.

Fontarèche work with 17 grape varieties of which their Carignan is held the highest regards. The vines are planted to the semi-desert Mediterranean climate trapped between the Atlantic and Mediterranean, the Atlantic breezes funnel through the mountain ranges that form the backdrop of the region and help to temper the summer heat in the vineyards retaining freshness and vibrancy in the wines.

Wonderfully lifted violets, mulberry and blue fruits all underlined by gentle smoke and graphite. The palate is brimming with a core of dark fruits, sweet and savoury notes with a really nice focus and buzzy energy. Really is surprising the level of subtle complexity at this price point that remains so easy to drink at the same time. Fast becoming a staff favourite! MYLES, PWS

  12. Rive Droite Rive Gauche Cotes du Rhone 2020
Rive Droite Rive Gauche Cotes du Rhone 2020
Rive Droite Rive Gauche simply means right bank, left bank and the name derives from fruit for the wine being sourced from both sides of the river - the grenache coming mainly from the left (gauche) and the Syrah from the village of Daumazan (on the rive droite), near Tavel. It is also a French film starring the rotund wine-nut actor Gerard Depardieu - fun fact!

This is a lovely fresh and crunchy styled Rhone from our friends at Rive Droite. There is touch of thyme and bay over red spiced fruits, layered with a little bit of red liquorice. This is a medium bodied rendition with a pure core of raspberry, wild strawberry and splash of black berry fruit in the mix. Its lithe with a lovely fresh cut to the sweet fruits that makes this look wonderfully elegant and damn easy to like.

Domaine Pajot Cotes de Gascogne Blanc 2019

The Domaine itself is plonked on the hills overlooking Eauze the capital of Armagnac. Its certified organic and has eighty acres of vines that grow on the gentle hills of sand and fine silt soils. All harvests are done by hand and the domaine does not use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. This is a dry and textural blend of Colombard, Ugni-Blanc, Sauvignon, and Gros-Manseng.

They have done it again! This is my go to white for summer with a lovely lemony, floral lilt and powdery, perfumed nose. Gentle and bright with clean and crisp flavours of orchard fruits and white nectarine. Its uncomplicated and delicious with clean, crunchy fruits and a zippy, minerally finish. Ridiculous value. MYLES, PWS

Chapoutier La Combe Pilate Viognier 2017

The Chapoutiere range is huge and it is incredible to behold the quality across the board from this famous producer given the sheer amount of wine they make.

This is off his families, mixed-use farm and sits outside the typical Condrieu framework both in style and place.

There is an intriguing struck-flint, mineral note mixed with floral edges and fresh apricot. It's zippy an fresh with vibrant peach and apricot fruit to the fore. It lively and full of energy and raring to go. PWS

  15. Marcel Malbec 2018
    Marcel Malbec 2018
Château du Cèdre is widely regarded as the leading estate in Cahors. Brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe, both qualified oenologists, can trace its history back to their grandfather Léon who left his native Flanders to settle in south-west France in the early 1900s. In due course Léon’s son Charles and his wife Marie-Thérèse started a mixed farm in 1958 and began planting one hectare of vines in three different plots every year.

This is made from fruit that doesn't make the estate range and also bought fruit from the greater southwest area. Sees no oak.

This is the soft and juicy side of Malbec with mulberry and damson fruit flecked with violet and sweet spice. The usual Cahor tannins are melted away into the pluch fruit and this is made to drink young and in fron of a fire. Great examlpe of what the southwest can do at this level when given a little care and attention. PWS

100% Malbec from purchased fruit grown on the 1st and 2nd terraces close to the river. The fruit is 100% de-stemmed and crushed, then the juice given a 3-4 day cold soak, to extract colour and a little tannin, before being pressed and cool-fermented in stainless steel. Matured in concrete tanks for 6-8 months. 'This shows the soft, juicy side of Malbec. No serious tannins here, just red berry fruit and fine acidity. That means it's ready to drink this winter.' Raised in tank and aged on fine lees, an abundance of savoury, grassy grapefruit, tangy and beautifully balanced.Lifted tropical fruit, lime and green apple with subtle herbaceous grassy end notes. It's been a while since we have tried the Pierre Amadieu wines and recent tasting made us question why we had for so long. A quality producer that makes a range of great northern and southern Rhone wines. There entry level CDR is a bit of a flagship and is such a joy to drink. PWS

A 75-25 blend of Grenache and Syrah, the 2018 Cotes du Rhone Roulepierre is a fruit-forward offering with substantial weight for a "simple" Côtes du Rhône. Raspberries, cherries and garrigue come together on the charming nose, while silky tannins frame the palate and linger easily on the finish. ...It's a solid value. JOE CZWERWINSKI, eRobertParker.com

  18. Racine Picpoul de Pinet 2019
    Racine Picpoul de Pinet 2019
Picpoul from the coastal reaches of the Mediterranean has become in recent years the 'go to wine' in France for Oysters, shell fish and indeed all fish and with good reason as besides having that dry bite and the acidity that goes with it, it also has good body and underlying fruit flavours. I love it - and particularly as it is made by my good fried Francois Chamboissier who is both a talented winemaker and a great gourmet living in a stunning small village in southern France. What a life! The wine is a treat. Racy freshness, ripe citrus fruit, and seafood-friendly purity. The palate has a lovely texture, with many layers of flavour and a notable length to the finish.

"The 2019 Racine Picpoul de Pinet is spot on. Crisp, clean and lively, it makes the perfect springtime aperitif and, blessed with a screwcap, can be opened in a trice whenever thirst strikes. JONATHAN RAY, The Spectator Magazine

Eric Bordelet Sydre Brut Tendre Apple Cider NV
The biodynamic orchards are comprised of trees upto 50+ years old containing 40-50 varieties of heirloom apples. The hand-harvested fruit is dehydrated for 4-5 weeks and simply ground and pressed then settled for clarification before fermenting naturally, originating in tank and finishing in bottle. Bubbles develop within two weeks of bottling. It has lovely aromatics of graham and baked apple, followed by elegant bubbles and an off-dry profile on the palate.

  20. Reine Juliette Carignan 2019
    Reine Juliette Carignan 2019
The Domaine Reine Juliette sits along the southern side of the modern A9, which historically was the Via Domitia which connected Italy to Spain. Guillaume and his sister Marion inherited the estate from his parents in 1985, and they are now joined by his son in working the land. Together they are the 6th and 7th generations of Allies making wine at Reine Juliette.

Harvested early (August) to keep some freshness and also because the summer was very dry and warm. 15 days cold maceration, malolactic fermentation, aged 6 months in concrete tanks. Very drinkable Carignan. The dark fruit character shows very well with silky tannins, touch of chopped herbs and pepperiness."
