  1. Jules Mediterranean Rose 2019
    Jules Mediterranean Rose 2019
Hugh and Jane Faulkner fell in love with a vineyard, situated on the foothills of the Masif des Maures, in the centre of the Var, and settled at the property in 1989. Their eldest son Julian would eventually take over the running of the vineyard in 2000. A shrewd wine businessman and talented vigneron, Julian established the Jules label with the mission to craft delicious, accessible, and great value wines with single estate personality.

Another killer Rose from Jules and one of those wines you ask yourself how they can do it for the money? Hints of citrus peel, fresh cut fennel and cranberry/red currant fruits on the nose follow into a juicy palate of crunchy, bright red fruit with a white pepper finish. Really juicy and bright but perfectly dry and eminently drinkable. Now under screwcap how can you go wrong? You would be crazy to not have a dozen of waiting in the wings for every time someone drops by for a drink on the patio or that last minute BBQ invite. PWS

  2. Chateau Coupe Roses Fremillant Rose 2020
Chateau Coupe Roses Fremillant Rose 2020

Situated in La Caunette, a small and beautiful village in Minervois, just close to the Montagne Noire the family of Françoise Le Calvez, his parents, son and daughter have created something incredibly special from this little corner they have carved out in the Mediterranean hinterlands.

Today the vineyard holdings total 143 acres with an assortment of some 40 plots in total, mostly on the mountain plateau standing high above their village of La Caunette. At 750 – 1350 ft above sea level these are some of the highest sites in the AOC. The warm days and cool nights result in one the longest growing seasons in the region. Regardless the wine remain wonderfully fresh and vibrant.

A wonderful Provence style rose but with a little extra meat on it bones. The high mourvedre count gives this a beautiful earthy spice element that lingers gently over red and black currant fruit, orange peel and pithy citrus fruit. Still in the medium bodied category this has a little extra heft and comes of feeling firm and full as well as bright and fresh. Juicy fruits and a spicy finish bring it all together nicely.

Trophy - Best Rose of Show - 97 Points - Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2021
Trophy - Best Rose of Show - 96 Points - Barossa Valley Wine Show 2021
Trophy - Best Rose of Show - 96 Points - Royal Melbourne Wine Awards 2021

Pale but bright pink colour. There's a little spicy, flinty, gently smoky funk over redcurrant and white cherry. Fresh and lively, just enough flavour, tight and focussed with superb fine chalky grip and engaging texture. Pink grapefruit too. And the finish is excellent, offering mouth-watering crunch, juiciness and tweak of tannin. Outstanding. GARY WALSH, Wine Front

  4. Chateau Coupe Roses Les Plots 2019
Chateau Coupe Roses Les Plots 2019
This family affair is a talented one with Françoise Frissant an agronomistand Mathias Paicheler, Sarah Frissant and Pascal Frissant all Oenologists. Today the vineyard holdings total 143 acres with an assortment of some 40 plots in total. At 750 - 1350 ft above sea level these are some of the highest sites in the AOC. The warm days and cool nights result in one the longest growing seasons in the region. Incredibly, they are often picking two weeks behind the rest of the low-lying vineyards that surround them.

Hand harvested and 100% de-stemmed blend of Syrah, Grenache and a touch of Carignan. This sees no oak with 1 year in stainless steel. A lovely lifted violet flecked nose that's pretty and perfumed, full of brambly wild red and black fruits that are jubey and bright. It's super enticing and delivers on the palate with the same colour scheme of wild fruits. It's mid-weight and nicely poised with fine grained tannins that melt away into the long finish. Holds itself nicely with a bounce in its step.

  5. Chateau Coupe Roses Fremillant Rose 2019
Chateau Coupe Roses Fremillant Rose 2019
    40% Mourvedre, 30% Cinsault, 20% Grenache, 10% Syrah (Organic)
Limpid peach skin. Nectarine, strawberry and a hint of honeydew melon on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering juicy red berry and pit fruit flavors that take on a suave floral accent as the wine opens up. Blends weight and finesse with a steady hand and finishes long and energetic, with repeating florality and lingering peachiness. This wine could pull double duty, paired with a wide range of foods or just for drinking by itself. JOSH RAYNOLDS

  6. Swinney Mourvedre Syrah Grenache 2020
    Swinney Mourvedre Syrah Grenache 2020

Around half is whole bunch, all of it is wild fermented, there’s a splash of mencia in the mix (would love to see a 2020 single variety mencia off this site!). It’s been a cracker in the past, here’s the new release.

Blackcurrant jelly, graphite, old leather, woody spice abound in perfume. Flavours roll a similar way, more blueberry than blackcurrant though, juiciness chiseled into by ribs of mineral-charged tannin, some sooty spice and tobacco characters lending savouriness. Medium weight, tannin-shaped, long, firm, dusty, savoury. Such a great drink here with charisma, texture, tension and energy in spades. Serious stuff! MIKE BENNIE, The Wine Front
