  1. Huet Vouvray Le Haut Lieu Sec 2005
Huet Vouvray Le Haut Lieu Sec 2005

The 2005 Vouvray Sec Le Haut Lieu smells positively mineral and carnal in its meld of ocean breeze, chicken stock, and snuffed candle wick, but neither does it stint on floral dimensions. With brothy richness, ample quince fruit, and pistachio nuttiness on the palate, the wine also displays positively gripping brightness of ripe acidity and tactile apple skin, grapefruit zest, and chalk dust, leading to a long, subtly nipping, tingling finish. DAVID SCHILDKNECHT, Wine Advocate

A very similar hue here, pale star-gold, still looking youthful. It has a very expressive nose, being full of the polished citrus and richer orchard fruit tones of youth, but also with a very harmonious integration giving it a slick, seamless, face-cream character. This has beautifully creamed fruit intensity, and yet it remains bright, fresh and acidic. The palate is finely composed, polished, with good substance and grip, and plentiful fruit at first. At the finish it begins to segue into a little honeyed, biscuity and exotic fruit, so there is ongoing development here. CHRIS KISSACK, The Wine Doctor

  2. Huet Vouvray Le Mont Sec 2005
Huet Vouvray Le Mont Sec 2005

The Huet 2005 Vouvray Sec Le Mont leads with quince, tangerine zest, and orange blossom, comes to the palate with great delicacy, refinement and polished texture, and displays a refreshing, shimmering interchange of orchard and citrus fruit with saline, chalky, smoky, stony minerality in its long, billowing finish. Relish this beauty DAVID SCHILDKNECHT, Wine Advocate

This wine still has a very fresh and pale hue despite its age, and is clearly still very young. The nose seems in keeping with this, showing a very minerally trait, and it feels surprisingly quite reductive in character, with smoky nuances too, and so it doesn't really show the development I would have expected in a wine of this vintage. In keeping with this it has an incredibly fresh and vibrant palate, is quite pithy, with great depth. There are some pear-fruit notes, as well as a twist of tropical fruit, but much more of that smoky minerality to be honest. This is impressive stuff. CHRIS KISSACK, The Wine Doctor

  3. Lafite Rothschild 2005
    Lafite Rothschild 2005

    8 BOTTLES AVALIABLE
Made in an ethereal style, the 2005 Lafite is composed of nearly 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, just under 11% Merlot, and a tiny fraction of Petit Verdot (representing only 40% of the total harvest). It is a deep, structured, linear style of Lafite Rothschild that is in total contrast to the opulence and extravagant richness of the 2003 and the bold, dramatic power of the 2000. The dense ruby/plum/purple-tinged 2005 offers up scents of graphite, flowers, crushed rocks, and loads of berry fruit. Medium-bodied and sweet with high tannin, it represents the quintessentially elegant style of Bordeaux. Another brilliant effort made under the auspices of administrator Charles Chevalier, it should be at its finest between 2015-2050+. (98) ROBERT PARKER
