    Limited edition of IWAI Tradition Blended whisky. Aged in red wine (CabernetSauvignon) cask more than one year. On nose, light floral, fruity, hints of orange peel, and chocolate. Rich and fruity flavour with smooth texture, delicate tannin, vanilla, honey, caramel and red wine/oak character. Medium length, spicy followed by aromas of wine casks. It presents with a little red berry over-tone and an extra dimension that it gives a little extra lift and lilt. This is done really well and we often don't love 'wine' expressions but this is on the money. PWS

    Chichibu Ichiro's Malt & Grain Whisky (700ml)
    Ichiro Akuto's most voluminous and accessible Whisky is, as it says on the label, a blend of Malt and Grain Whiskies. While the exact source of the material is not published, we know it's a blend of Japanese distilled material vatted with Whiskies sourced from around the world. In addition to Whisky from his own stocks--including, potentially, Hanyu and Karuizawa, as well as his own Chichibu--the blend contains spirits from Canada, the United States, Ireland and Scotland. The imported Whiskeys are 3-5-years-old, aged in their country of origin before being carefully blended with local Japanese material and matured a further 1-3 years at Chichibu. The Whisky is vatted in 2 x 5,000-litre wooden barrels built by French cooper Taransaud. Non-chill filtered, non-coloured.

    Gold Medal - World Whisky Awards 2018

    Launched in Japan in 2018 as a premium label replacement of the massively successful Fuji Sanroku Tarujukugenshu 50°. Each casks used in this blend is hand selected by Kirin's Jota Tanaka, the 2017 Icons of Whisky Master Distiller/Master Blender of the Year.

    Nose: Toffee, pineapple, passion fruit, apricot jam.
    Palate: Orange, rye spice, nutmeg, cloves, apricot jam, pineapple, wood shavings, passion fruit.
    Finish: Very well controlled wood. Rye spice, smooth bourbon, passion fruit, pineapple and apricot jam.

    Fuji-Gotemba Distillery’s talent for grain whisky is evident here, with a nose of waxy green leaves, whole peppercorn, and fleeting glimpses of lemon peel, lime zest, and white peach amid the airy, floral top notes. It has a serene, calming quality to it. Spicy pepper, orange peel, mouth-coating vanilla, creamy toffee, and crunchy apple, with a clean finish, like orange flesh laid out on hot stones. 90 points, JONNY MCCORMICk, whiskyadvocate.com
