  1. Delord Bas Armagnac XO 10 yr 200ml Mini's
Delord Bas Armagnac XO 10 yr 200ml Mini's

Situated in Bas-Armagnac, vineyards are made up of Colombard, Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche grape varieties. The distillery is to be found in the village of Lannepax, the ancestral home of the Delord family. The distillation, the most essential and fascinating stage in the production of Armagnac, takes place at the beginning of November through to the end of December. Their old Sier Armagnac alambics, that they wouldn't part with for all the gold in the world, produce less than 30 litres of eau-de-vie an hour. Delord cellars contain old treasured vintages and include more than 700 oak barrels that protect and age the Armagnac eau-de-vie dating from the 20th Century to the present day.

Delord thanks to their vision have stored such quantities of good Armagnacs for such a long time that they have the resource to be very competitive in price for the same quality. They also concentrate on Armagnac styles, very rounded, soft and easy to drink, that they are amongst the most successful producers.

Caramel, candy, vanilla, nut and a whole selection of tasting goodies. A rustic opening which rounds out all the way with hints of rancio that travels from fruitiness to sweetness and vice versa. A spiral of dried fruit, citrus peel, vanilla, caramel, spiced oak, grape, nutty, rancio, prunes, cinnamon.

  2. Kings County Straight Bourbon 200ml Mini's
Kings County Straight Bourbon 200ml Mini's
Gold Medal - 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition 45% ABV.

Kings County Bourbon is the same spirit as Kings County's moonshine, here aged for an average of two years in new, American oak charred barrels. The nose offers spicy, cedar, fresh oak and roasted malt notes. Very fine but also complex, there is also the suggestion of pecan, fresh corn and bright cherry. The palate is really spicy and fine; there's real depth of malt and fruit cake notes shot through with higher notes of citrus, fresh vanilla as well as cinnamon and other autumnal spices. The texture is very smooth, a spirit of the quality we normally associate with top notch Cognac, and the finish is spicy, lingering and perfumed. Wonderful stuff that is easily good enough to sip from the flask. Exotic and deep, with flavors of grain, licorice, vanilla and molasses. ERIC ASIMOV, New York Times

  3. Kings Moonshine 375ml
    Kings Moonshine 375ml
40% ABV. Kings County Distillery's Moonshine (un-aged whiskey) is distilled from 80% New York State organic corn and 20% malted barley, sourced from the UK. The latter represents one of the highest proportions of malted barley on a US whiskey's mash bill. It is double distilled in gooseneck copper pot stills to yield a lower distillation proof, rich in flavor and mouthfeel. The Kings County distillers use very narrow cuts, essentially the heart of the hearts, to draw off a very clean, pure distillate. Nothing at all is added.

"Absolutely spot on corn whiskey; sweet, clean, berry-fruit, very well made and does exactly what it says on the tin." 92 points, JIm MURRAY'S WHISKEY BIBLE 2017

  4. Kings County Straight Bourbon 375ml
    Kings County Straight Bourbon 375ml

Kings County Distillery’s Straight Bourbon is made from New York State 80% organic corn and 20% English malted barley, is twice distilled in copper pot stills and then aged in new charred oak barrels. Rich in caramel, vanilla, and holiday spice, this bottle is cited frequently in lists of best non-Kentucky bourbons. Aged for at least two years, this is a precocious whiskey, surprisingly robust for its age.

“Crisp Demerara sugar; sumptuous texture, aided by melt-in-the-mouth natural caramels; an excellent outpouring of citrus-tinged vanilla; for a year-old bourbon the sugars have accumulated charmingly (89=excellent).” – Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible 2013  “Exotic and deep, with flavors of grain, licorice, vanilla and molasses.”  (#2 Craft Bourbon, 3-Stars) — ERIC ASIMOV, New York Times 2014.  “Top Ten Bourbons” —Time Out New York, 2014

  5. Michter's US*1 Single Barrel Rye Whiskey (700ml)
    Michter's US*1 Single Barrel Rye Whiskey (700ml)
A well balanced and solid drinking Rye out of Louisville, Kentucky. Each bottling comes from a single barrel and with the limited production these can be sometimes difficult to get. With not quite the demand in Australia that you see in the USA we are lucky enough to keep these on the shelf for the most part. Michters unusually, fill barrels at a much lower proof then most other bourbons and whiskeys and uses a fairly unique heat cycling warehousing system for their barrels which add more richness, complexity and flavour. A spicy and peppery nose, with hints of mint and fresh cut hay. The medium to rich palate is long, lightly sweet and carries its lovely charry/spicy oak barrel flavours beautifully. PWS

  6. Willett Family Johnny Drum Bourbon Whiskey (700ml)
Willett Family Johnny Drum Bourbon Whiskey (700ml)
Plenty of color, and the nose says it ain’t lying. Sharp warehouse oak aroma puts an edge on an authoritative nose of honey, Indian pudding, spicy hard candy, and old-fashioned root beer, the not-too-sugary kind. Fiery and bold on the tongue as oak roars from start to finish, but the sweetness builds sip-by-sip: cornbread, buckwheat honey, King syrup, and a teasy bit of citrus peel. Long finish as the oak dies down. At this price, let’s keep it our secret. LEW BRYSON www.maltadvocate.com
