  1. Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Turckheim 2018
    Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Turckheim 2018

Zind Humbrecht is one of the unquestioned kings of aromatic whites. His ceaseless drive to create the worlds greatest examples of his varieties is nothing short of remarkable as are the resulting offerings. A devoted proponent of Biodynamics, a gifted presenter and communicator and a towering figure of modern wine, the first Frenchman to be awarded the MW (International Master of Wine) he has justifiably earned his reputation as one of legends of modern wine.

The Tuckheim Range is the value tier and represents classic Alsace whites from a regional blend of grapes as well as estate fruit.

An exuberant Gewurztraminer with roses, lilies and lychee ploughing out of the glass. Crafted from a blend of the tanks used to top off all the different foudres of Gewurztraminer produced by Domaine Zind-Humbrecht, it contains wine from across this estate's vast holdings. The 18 is definitely in a more forward and plush style so expect a rich and opulent styling. Text book stuff! PWS

  2. Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Roche Roulee 2018
Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Roche Roulee 2018
Damask rose, orange peel and pith and juicy peach make for an attractive combination on the nose of this wine. The palate has gentle sweetness that is countered by pleasant, phenolic bitterness that lends shape to this off-dry, spicy, mellow wine. Yes it is generous, but all that zesty pithiness makes the wine intriguing. The off-dry finish is textured. WINE ENTHUSIAST

This wine is made from all the very old Gewurztraminer vines planted in the Turckheim/Herrenweg vineyards. Some of these vineyards are also located in the richest part of the valley floor, where the gravels are mixed with by richer silt. With deeper roots and richer soils available to them, these vines didn't suffer from drought. The ripeness progressed quickly in 2018. Gewurztraminer is a wine that can surprisingly ferment fast, which is handy, as a higher pH would expose these wines to more problems if the fermentation would last too long. The 2018 grapes were beautiful and healthy.

Bright yellow colour. The nose is classic with an expressive and strong expressive floral character, nice spices, yet delicate and complex. The palate is harmonious, there is a slight roundness well balanced by ripe tannins. Nice length, serious finish with a fresh aftertaste. Beautiful classic Gewurztraminer. ZIND HUMBRECHT

  3. Weinbach Furstentum Vendanges Tardives Grand Cru Gewurtztraminer 2015 375mL
Weinbach Furstentum Vendanges Tardives Grand Cru Gewurtztraminer 2015 375mL

[The] Gewurztraminer Furstentum Vendange Tardive opens with a very clear, fresh, piquant and minerally flavored passion fruit bouquet. Rich, intense, fresh and piquant on the palate, this is a sweet and concentrated but highly elegant, finessed and well-structured VT. Although this wine is not yet approved as VT by the official board AVA, it is a gorgeous wine that has a great potential to age and to improve over the years on the bottle. To be released in September 2017 (97) STEPHAN REINHARDT, The Wine Advocate

Good full yellow-gold. Dried apricot, passion fruit, lemon and honey on the opulent nose. Then slightly more austere in the middle, offering very concentrated flavors similar to the aromas. Already delicious now, with ripe acids framing and extending the compellingly pure, penetrating fruit flavors. Very long on the suave finish. About 30 percent botrytized grapes. (97) IAN D'AGATA

  4. Weinbach Furstentum Grand Cru Gewurtztraminer 2015
Weinbach Furstentum Grand Cru Gewurtztraminer 2015
The 2015 Gewurztraminer Furstentum offers a very clear, precise and slightly flinty, still a bit reductive bouquet of bright fruits intermixed with fresh crystalline and mineral flavors. Highly elegant and pretty delicate on the palate, this rich, intense and pretty sweet Gewurz needs years to unfold its talents and to get rid of its sweetness (36.77 grams per liter) and baby speck. The tannins are fine and structuring, and the finesse of this wine is really remarkable. Keep it for at least eight to ten years! STEPHAN REINHARDT, The Wine Advocate
