  1. Langmeil Three Gardens Viognier Roussane Marsanne 2019
Langmeil Three Gardens Viognier Roussane Marsanne 2019
A classic blend of three of the noblest French Rhône white varieties - Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. A fruity, rich and textural fusion bursting with stone fruit, grapefruit, honeysuckle fresh cut herb and a lemon curd zing. This is have lovely cut and nervy energy that sits beautifully within a fleshy and ripe frame. This is a real surprise and a perfect winter white with its textural body.

In keeping with the old Barossa vignerons' name for their vineyards, the three 'Gardens' for this blend have been selected from the Lyndoch vineyard in the Southern Barossa Valley, the Marsanne from Gomersal on the Western Ridge and the Roussanne from the high rolling hills of Eden Valley. Each were picked relatively early then fermented separately at low temperatures to retain freshness. This was followed by five months' tank maturation on lees (a polite way of saying dead yeast) to build complexity and palate weight before blending and bottling.

  2. Ogier Le Temps Est Venu Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2019
Ogier Le Temps Est Venu Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2019
There is a touch of exoticism to the aromatics that otherwise run towards orchard fruits, nectarine and peach, but it's that note of ginger flower and the little hint smoky minerality that keeps me coming back for another look. Ample weight and texture, not in any way overtly rich but there is the punch and depth you would expect from Rhone varieties. There is a crisp, green apple cut to the fruit which keeps its super fresh and bright. It's just so much fun to drink. I mean, you get all this upfront pleasure with the bold fruit but it shows remarkable clarity and energy for a wine at this level. I love it. I drank one to make sure but I was prepared this time and had a backup bottle which I drank the next night. *It's a money back guarantee here, if you like white wine and this doesn't work for you then we will refund you for the bottle. 3. Courbissac Vin de France L'orange 2017
Courbissac Vin de France L'orange 2017
One of the most beautiful examples of the orange wine style I have ever tasted. Made from a blend of local textural white grapes including grenache gris, terret gris and carignan blanc, plus some perfumed marsanne and muscat, all fermented on skins for a week before being pressed off into tank and bottled. This "infusion" of grapes produces a pale, copper-coloured wine with ethereal floral scents and the gentlest grip on the tongue. MAX ALLEN, The Australian Financial Review

Juicy, pure and penetrating on the palate, offering vibrant orchard, pit fruit flavors and subtle hints of tarragon and honeysuckle that emerge with aeration. In a distinctly bright, energetic style, showing excellent focus and strong, mineral-driven tenacity. JOSH RAYNOLDS, vinous.com

  6. Guigal St Joseph Lieu dit Blanc 2017
Guigal St Joseph Lieu dit Blanc 2017
While Marcel Guigal says he loves to stick his Ex Voto white Hermitage in blind Burgundy tastings, you might also try that with this beauty. The 2017 Saint-Joseph Lieu-Dit Saint-Joseph Blanc is all barrel fermented (half in new and half in second use oak) and offers aromas of toasted almonds and hazelnuts. It has a broad, generous mouthfeel and ripe melon and pear flavors. Despite the richness and silky texture, it remains fresh and focused on the lengthy finish. JOE CZERWINSKI

St Joseph Lieu Dit St Joseph Blanc, this cuvée was first made in 2001 and comes from the namesake vineyard of the appellation. The lieu-dit St Joseph is located just south of the town of Tournon and consists primarily of a gorgeous, south-facing, granite hillside. This cuvée is always 100% Marsanne and up until 2013, was aged in 100% new French oak. Starting with the 2014 vintage, they’ve moved to aging the cuvée in equal parts new and once-used barrels, with the goal to make the cuvée slightly more approachable in its youth. Along with Chapoutier’s Les Granits Blanc, Gonon’s les Oliviers, Gripa’s Le Berceau Blanc and Coursodon’s le Paradis St Pierre Blanc, this is consistently one of the appellation's most impressive whites.
