  1. Andre Clouet Chalky NV
    Andre Clouet Chalky NV

Brimming with fresh apple, lemon and wild-berry aromas underlined by a note of freshly baked baguette, this begins so charming, then it turns in a fascinating mineral direction with a pronounced saline quality. The excitement comes from the tension between these two sides of this very distinctive champagne. Very long, chalky finish. 100% chardonnay from the 2013 vintage. JAMES SUCKLING

  2. Billaud Simon Chablis Tete d'Or 2019
Billaud Simon Chablis Tete d'Or 2019

from 2 parcels situated in the villages portion of Chapelot
A discreet but not invisible application of wood sets off a ripe mix of both white and yellow orchard fruit with similar nuances of iodine and seashore. The wood treatment extends to the palate as well though not so much that it sweetens the clean and dry finish. This always seems to age extremely well, and the 2019 version should be no different. Worth checking out. "Outstanding, Top Value" BURGHOUND

Here there's more depth of aroma - a citrus-mineral hybrid - and very attractive despite the first suggestion of barrel. In the mouth here is width, mineral width, beautiful texture and fine balance. Faintly oaked but always Chablis - that's an excellent wine - in a contemplative, elegant and delicious style. 3. Francois Chidaine Les Choisilles Montlouis 2019
Francois Chidaine Les Choisilles Montlouis 2019

Les Choisilles is named after a type of black flint of the same name, abundant in the old vine parcels that gift this wine where the bedrock is tuffeau. The vines range in age between 30 to 90 years. This is a wonderfully racy, mineral dry Chenin of intensity and drive.

Chidaine's 2019 Montlouis sur Loire Les Choisilles is deep, pure, fresh and refined on the nose but still very young, with lemon leaf, chalk and sur lie aromas. On the palate, this is a rich and concentrated Chenin, but it reveals remarkable freshness and energy. It is a bit unfair to compare it to the 2018, which has a year more of development, but I have to, and I am still amused by the 2019, which lifts Les Choisilles to unknown heights. The salinity and mineral grip are really beautiful here in the finish, and I believe the wine can age for two decades. Highly attractive pineapple flavors on the aftertaste. 4. Francois Chidaine Clos Habert 2019
    Francois Chidaine Clos Habert 2019
This Domaine has a number of cuvées that often fall into what would traditionally be called demi-sec territory. However, Chidaine prefers to call these wines tendre, or 'gently dry'. This three-hectare clos sits just above the Clos de Breuil, on a plateau where the silex (flint) gives way to broken chalk and clay.
From a soil composed of clay and coarse flint elements covering the subsoil made up of tuff, the 2019 Montlouis sur Loire Clos Habert opens with a very fine and delicate bouquet of finely concentrated yellow-fleshed fruit aromas along with herbal and flinty notes. Round and intense, with perfectly ripe fruit, fine tannins and delicate acidity, this is a sustainably intense and salty Chenin that is far too young to be served today but will age for some decades. 5. Huet Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Demi-Sec 2020
    Huet Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Demi-Sec 2020
The 2020 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Demi-Sec is clear, pure, subtle, deep and fresh, with highly refined chalky/sandy lemon aromas. Rich and intense yet silky textured and refined on the concentrated palate, this is a juicy, highly elegant, perfectly balanced, persistently salty and mouth-salivating Haut-Lieu with very fine tannins and a long, firm and pretty powerful but elegant and complex finish. Still more stringent than the Le Mont Demi-Sec in the beginning, but after aeration, this is not just a greatly finessed Chenin but one of the finest Haut-Lieu's I have tasted from Huet. 6. Guimaro A Pont Single Vineyard Mencia 2018
Guimaro A Pont Single Vineyard Mencia 2018
Pre Arrival Due September 2020 limited stock
The red 2018 A Ponte comes from one of the family's oldest vineyards, though it was planted only 10 years ago, replicating the old varietal mix, going back to ancestral times with 30% Mencía and then equal parts of Caíño Redondo and Caíño Longo, Sousón, Brancellao and Merenzao. The soils are slate with iron, quartz and mica, and this plot has a southeast exposition (what does it bring). All the varieties fermented together with 100% full clusters in closed troncoconic vats with a 50-day total maceration time. The wine matured in a 5,000-liter oak vat for six months and then was moved to used barrels of different sizes, up to 500 liters, where it went through malolactic and some 10 months élevage. This feels a bit closed compared to the Camiño Real; it's a serious wine that takes some time to open up in the glass. It combines spices and flowers and is quite complex, a juicy and vibrant red with more freshness. It has a slightly different profile from the other single vineyard, this is at slightly higher altitude and has less Mencía than any of the reds. This shows how young vines can produce deep, complex and complete wines. 4,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2020.

  7. Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay 2020
    Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay 2020
In warmer vintages (like 2020) the Heytesbury chardonnay has extension and flex on release, they billow with flavour and pleasure, and the oak seems to be enveloped by it early on. So goes the story here: like the 2018 (on release) this is a scintillating show of powerful fruit, mineral/juicy acidity and layers of crushed rocks, petrichore. nori, summer fig and salted yellow peaches. A superstar wine - it's closed now though: patience, or a decant is recommended. (97) ERIN LARKIN, Wine Companion

  8. Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2019
    Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2019
Dark red to coal black in colour. Notes of damp forest floor combine with a zephyr of savoury meats and campfire smoke, with raspberry and star anise notes lifted by the whole-bunch component. Round and rich with a satisfying fruit-laden palate of wild berries coming to the fore. The tannins are powder-fine and convey red fruits with a twist of spiced vanilla oak, long on the palate. Evocative and immensely complex, this finishes with a strong mineral and graphite impact. A wine that is destined to have a long future. RICK KINZBRUNNER

  9. Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve NV
    Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve NV
The base wine is equal parts pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier from the'07 vintage, and 40% reserve wine is added prior to the wine being bottled for its second fermentation. The reserve wine has an average age of 10 years, so after three years on lees prior to disgorgement the Brut Reserve has an average age of just under six years. Aromas of brioche, almond and peach; the palate has great length and complexity, the youthful base wine's freshness contrasting with the velvety/creamy nuances of the Reserve. JAMES HALLIDAY

    Rieussec 2017 375ml

    Sauternes 1er Cru Classé
24 BOTTLES remain at time of offer

The 2017 Rieussec captures the natural intensity of the year, while also remaining faithful to the house style that is now favored by the estate. A high percentage of Sauvignon Blanc (17%) adds freshness and lift to the passionfruit, pineapple, mint and lemon confit flavors. Beautifully harmonious and persistent in the glass, the 2017 has so much to offer. In this tasting, it is simply tremendous. (94-97) ANTONIO GALLONI

The 2017 Rieussec was affected by the frost, losing around 15% of the production although, it was more located in parcels that are designated for the dry white R de Rieussec. Eric Kohler told me that it was a relatively rapid picking. It has around 125gm/L residual sugar. It has a clean but slightly distant bouquet, does not really exude the richness that you expect from Sauternes. The palate is medium-bodied and more promising than the nose: a viscous opening, quite spicy and slightly Auslese in style. The acidity is well balanced and it becomes increasingly lively towards the lychee and fennel-tinged finish, as if compensating for the nose. (92-94) NEAL MARTIN

  11. Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay 2020
Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay 2020
Possibly the most complete Hunting Hill Chardonnay I've tasted in youth, the 2020 provides a harmonious, melt-in-your-mouth impression. It has breadth and concentration but retains a sense of  elegance on the midpalate before finishing with precision and length. Yes, there's a little bit of flint character too, but then Hunting Hill is known to be reductive; give it time. Like Forrest Gump, it runs through a finish line and keeps on going effortlessly. There's no box of chocolates here, though; it's all white nectarine, citrus, white flowers and a touch of smoked nuts.REBECCA GIBB, Vinous.com

  13. Lacourte Godbillon Terroirs d’Ecueil Brut NV
Lacourte Godbillon Terroirs d’Ecueil Brut NV
The NV Premier Cru Extra Brut Mi-Pentes is a selection of parcels that are located on the mid-slopes around the village of Écueil. It's pure Pinot Noir that is mostly (70%) from the 2014 vintage, complemented by 30% from the 2013 vintage, and 20% of the cuvée was fermented in oak. The wine offers a pure and fruity yet still lean and rather reductive bouquet. On the palate, this is a very fresh, pure, mineral and tensioned Pinot Noir with good grip and lingering salinity and structure. Still very young, this should benefit from further bottle aging. Disgorged in July 2017 with three grams of dosage. Tight and fresh, it still needs some time. Tasted in April 2018. STEPHAN REINHARDT, The Wine Advocate

  14. Radikon Ribolla 2013 500ml
    Radikon Ribolla 2013 500ml

In some ways this is the wine that got Stanko Radikon inspired to change his ways. Indigenous to the area and at the time not widely planted it has a unique profile with golden colour (in a conventional bottling and on the vine and often used in sweeter styles). PWS

    review for the 2011
Orangey brown but bright and golden at the core. You can still smell the golden yellow Ribolla fruit. Some tea and dried grasses but full of fruit. Spice and a touch of savoury mushroom. Umami too. Sour barley sugar. Nutty walnut. Orange and walnuts. Mouth-watering and just slightly sweaty on the finish. Incredibly long. Chewy, mineral and just intensely delicious and so fresh. So much fruit. Wild and gorgeous, powerful. JULIA HARDING, www.jancisrobinson.com
