  1. Pyramid Valley Field of Fire Chardonnay 2016
Pyramid Valley Field of Fire Chardonnay 2016

Tangy, chardonnay that is crisper, brighter and has more energy than its broader, richer sister label Lion's Tooth. Grapefruit, stone fruit, peach and nectarine flavours with toasty oak and a hint of struck flint and mineral character. (95) BOB CAMPBEL MW

The 2016 Field of Fire Chardonnay is matured 50% in amphora and 50% in used barriques. It has a rich, slightly honeyed bouquet with touches of almond and orange pith. The slightly viscous, rich but not overbearing palate offers good density and tropical fruit, passion fruit and guava towards the generous finish. This should drink from straight release in March 2019, though the Lion's Tooth should have more longevity. NEAL MARTIN
