  1. Moet & Chandon Brut Rose NV
Moet & Chandon Brut Rose NV

(roughly 45% Pinot Noir, 35% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, with 9 g/l dosage; LAH9V): Dark, vivid pink. Ripe red berries, rose oil and tangerine on the nose, plus a subtle note of toasty lees. Bitter cherry and berry skin flavors give way to softer raspberry in the middle, with a tangy blood orange nuance adding cut and lift. Packs a punch but shows very good clarity and delineation, finishing round, smooth and quite long. JOSH REYNOLDS, 2015

  2. Duval Leroy Rose Prestige Brut NV
Duval Leroy Rose Prestige Brut NV
Pale orange. Smoky red berries, toasty lees and orange zest on the highly perfumed nose. Pliant, penetrating redcurrant and blood orange flavors are sweetened by a touch of honey and pick up smokiness with air. Deep but dry, even a bit uncompromising in a positive way. The red berry quality comes back on the finish, which shows very good clarity, lift and refreshing bitterness. JOSH RAYNOLDS, Vinous Media

  3. Larmandier Bernier Rose de Saignee Brut 1er Cru NV
Larmandier Bernier Rose de Saignee Brut 1er Cru NV
Disgorged September 2021. The Rosé de Saignée is drawn mostly from what are thought to be the oldest Pinot Noir vines in Vertus (45 years old), and one of this village’s very last 100% Pinot vineyards. In fact, the vineyard is a co-planted blend of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Gris, with both varieties contributing to this wine. The grapes are allowed to macerate for a period before the juice is drawn off, providing the colour and much of the body and flavour for the wine. This saignée technique is now rare in Champagne, primarily as it is a demanding method of vinification and requires grapes with an excellent degree of maturity. Most rosé in Champagne is made by the addition of a little red wine. Vive la différence! Bibendum

  4. Vallformosa MVSA Brut NV
    Vallformosa MVSA Brut NV

The 'MVSA' is made from the tradition Cava varieties Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada at the respective ratio's of 35:30:35%, the wine has seen 24 months of lees ageing and bears 9.5 g/l of residual sugar, but has the acidity to clean up the tail; it is a stylish and satisfying wine of great value. It is pale in colour with plenty of bubbles showing aromas of apples and pears, toasty bread and white flowers balancing the right amount of bubbles and acid. There is pure apple on the palate with minerals and lemon sherbet on the finish; it is a very cooling and refreshing summer drink. PWS

  5. Sanchez Romate Pedro Ximenez Cardenal Cisneros 750ml
Sanchez Romate Pedro Ximenez Cardenal Cisneros 750ml
100% Pedro Ximinex, Spain\n\nSánchez Romate Pedro Ximénez Cardenal Cisneros; 18% alc. Completely opaque old brown colour, very glass-coating. Dusty, with a more pronounced raisiny character. Smooth and creamy on the palate, darker than the Colosía and with that boiled sweet character of (relatively) young PX, treacly-chocolaty, with a burnt side to it. Wild and elemental. www.wine-pages.com\n\nThe outrageous and decadent member of the sherry family is Pedro Ximenez and is characterised by an almost dark brown to black colour and viscous texture that stains the palate with sweet nutty, raisiny flavours. It's best chilled to counter the viscosity. Ultimately this is a delicious and unique sweet wine. \nROSCOE\n

  6. Egly Ouriet Grand Cru Brut NV
Egly Ouriet Grand Cru Brut NV

Grand Cru Brut (which was once known as Brut Tradition) is made exclusively from Grand Cru vines predominantly in Ambonnay but also Bouzy and Verzenay. Made from 70% pinot and 30% chardonnay it spends a lengthy 50 months on lees. Based on the excellent 2017 vintage it also sees the addition of 50% reserve wines - one of the factors this prestige cuvee towers over others in the field.

Based on the 2017 vintage, Egly's NV Brut Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of pear, freshly baked bread, lemon zest, tangerine and praline. Full-bodied, layered and elegantly muscular, with terrific concentration, racy acids and chalky structure, it concludes with a long, gently honeyed finish. Egly has always been enthusiastic about the quality of his Ambonnay fruit in 2017, and this bottling certainly validates his early confidence. WILLIAM KELLEY, wineadvocate.com

Vibrant, mineral-laced citrus and orchard fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of buttered toast and honey. Toasty orange and pear flavors are braced by juicy acidity, picking up a suggestion of chamomile with air. Finishes dry and precise, with repeating mineral and toast notes. 9. Larmandier Bernier Latitude Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs NV
Larmandier Bernier Latitude Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs NV
The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Latitude 1er Cru is a gorgeous wine, and a terrific introduction to the Larmandier-Bernier Champagnes. Bright and floral at the outset, the Latitude also possesses terrific depth and tons of resonance that carries through to the finish. In this tasting, the Latitude is just stellar. All the elements fall into place effortlessly in a Champagne that captures the essence of Chardonnay in this southern part of Vertus, where the wines tend to be ample in feel. ANTONIO GALLONI

  12. Lini 910 Lambrusco
    Lini 910 Lambrusco
Forget any preconception of Lambrusco as the sweet industrialised stuff that your parents may have known. Or some of the poor local versions that continue to denigrate the great and proud reputation of one of Italy's classic wine styles. \n\nEstablished in 1910, Lini is a family run-winery - Alicia Lini is the fourth generation winemaker - producing a range of Lambruschi that are elegant, vibrant, complex, refreshing and dry versions that shine with simple foods such as cured meats and antipasti. TREMBATH & TAYLOR\n\nLini 910 makes excellent Lambrusco and has only recently been available in Australia. Its dar red and enticing with loads of big bubbles as soon as its poured although they dissipate quickly. There is plenty of red berry fruit, smoky, savoury with some grippy tannins offset by cleansing acidity and a fresh finish. JANE FAULKNER, The Age\n
