Unashamedly one of my favourite releases of the year. La Tota is up there with the best of Barbera which is up there with my favourite wines to actually drink. By that I mean, drink, not talk about but drink. With friends, food, family. The 2019 is cooler, brighter and snappier than the last few years. It hits a lighter blue fruit and tart red berry spectrum with plenty of lift and perfume to the aromatics. Cool, fresh, long and plump in the mouth. There is the volume Mario seems to capture every year but it’s a little more reigned in, more of a lively feel. Spanking. Absolutely spanking! ROSCOE
