  1. Antonio Soave 2020
    Antonio Soave 2020
Set in the foothills before the Dolomites - with most sites sitting between 250-500 metres, the wines of Antonio Fattori are a masterclass of focus and definition. His gift is to let the varieties - Garganega for Soave, Pinot Grigio and more recently Durello and the Valpolicella red grapes which speak brightly of their origins.

These wines are fantastic and this must be one of the best value Soave's around. Lovely up-front peach and soft green almond tinged fruit greet you. There is a lovely zip to the palate and some nervy energy countered by pure and plush fruits. This is modern, stylish and very tasty.

  2. Petilia Le Sepaie Irpinia Aglianico 2017
Petilia Le Sepaie Irpinia Aglianico 2017
In the 2017 Aglianico Le Sepaie I’m finding a savory display, leading off with a whiff of animal musk and smoky minerals, as notes of black cherry, spice, violet florals, and dark earth tones come forward. On the palate, soft textures give way to fresh red fruits, offset by zesty acids and spice, as a coating of minerals drench the senses. The finish is long yet energetic, as acids linger, along with spicy red berries and a hint of young tannin. The 2017 Le Sepaie has energy to burn and drinks beautifully today, yet it should also excel over the next five or more years in the cellar. It offers tremendous value. ERIC GUIDO, Vinous Media

  3. Pala I Fiori Cannonau di Sardegna 2019
Pala I Fiori Cannonau di Sardegna 2019
The Pala team (lead by General Manager Fabio Angius) has recently acquired an additional 12 hectares of 20-year-old vines planted to Cannonau, Vermentino and Nuragus. The Serdiana area where Pala is located in southeast Sardinia is characterized by marl and limestone soils. The vines are in an amphitheater some 12 kilometers from the sea and the Gulf of Cagliari. Steady sea breezes are an important element of the local growing conditions. They are planted in bright, white sandy soils in the Terralba area on the western side of the island. The vineyard is surrounded by a wall of cacti and fichi d'India. The Wine Advocate

If you have never had cannonau (grenache) from Sardinia then this the perfect introduction. The variety is perfect for the warm climate while the limestone and marl vineyards give this a tone if minerally energy that slices beautifully through the wild berry fruits. A little more savoury in style then either of its cousins in France or Australia which makes it a wholly unique varietal. PWS

  4. Gianfranco Alessandria Barbera d'Alba 2019
    Gianfranco Alessandria Barbera d'Alba 2019
The Gianfranco Alessandria 2019 Barbera d'Alba is a tart and punchy expression, with bright cherry and a dusting of crushed aspirin or limestone. The wine touches down on the palate with just the right fruit weight and intensity, showing a mid-weight texture and nice acidity to keep the palate revived and fresh. This is such a versatile and natural foodie wine to pair with any hearty home-cooked meal, especially something buttery and French. Some 15,000 bottles were made. MONICA LARNER, eRobertParker.com
