  1. Petilia Falanghina 2019
    Petilia Falanghina 2019
Siblings Roberto and Teresa Bruno property is 20 hectares of vineyards planted to a range of classic regional varietals. The vineyards sit at elevations of 400 - 650 meters and are scattered amongst the towns of Arpaise, Lapio, Candida, Chianche and Altavilla Irpinia. Roberto has been the driving force behind the estate and has been in charge of the winemaking since its inception.

These are wonderfully classic expressions of the region that embrace a modern approach to winemaking which at its heart respects the long traditions and history of Campania.

100% falanghina from 5 year old  vineyards sitting at 450 meters above sea level and facing South-East, with clay and volcanic soils from the sub-zone of Arpaise. Delicate white flowers with white flesh fruit, light and with a little mineral verve and freshness on the finish. Perfect summer fair with fish or chicken on the BBQ.

  2. Rive Droite Rive Gauche Cotes du Rhone 2020
Rive Droite Rive Gauche Cotes du Rhone 2020
Rive Droite Rive Gauche simply means right bank, left bank and the name derives from fruit for the wine being sourced from both sides of the river - the grenache coming mainly from the left (gauche) and the Syrah from the village of Daumazan (on the rive droite), near Tavel. It is also a French film starring the rotund wine-nut actor Gerard Depardieu - fun fact!

This is a lovely fresh and crunchy styled Rhone from our friends at Rive Droite. There is touch of thyme and bay over red spiced fruits, layered with a little bit of red liquorice. This is a medium bodied rendition with a pure core of raspberry, wild strawberry and splash of black berry fruit in the mix. Its lithe with a lovely fresh cut to the sweet fruits that makes this look wonderfully elegant and damn easy to like.

  3. Bilancia Pinot Gris 2020
    Bilancia Pinot Gris 2020
Pear and lifted floral aromatics and a full, ripe, lush palate. This is how Pinot Gris should be.
2020 was a spectacular vintage for Hawke’s Bay and this Pinot Gris fruit was harvested in brilliant condition. Pressed and cold settled before racking and transfer to very old barriques for a coolish, slow fermentation. Slow fermentation assists in the retention of the often-subtle varietal fruit characters of Pinot Gris. The barrel fermentation is not meant to add oak character to the wine but rather, assist in texture. Texture is a very important feature in Pinot Gris.

Aromas of floral, fruit and musk coupled with a rich, textural and full palate, important characters for Pinot Gris, building from great fruit quality and attention to balance during winemaking. The wine is dry, the weight and flavour of the fruit carries the palate. WARREN GIBSON, winemaker

  4. Domaine Pajot Cotes de Gascogne Blanc 2019
Domaine Pajot Cotes de Gascogne Blanc 2019

The Domaine itself is plonked on the hills overlooking Eauze the capital of Armagnac. Its certified organic and has eighty acres of vines that grow on the gentle hills of sand and fine silt soils. All harvests are done by hand and the domaine does not use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. This is a dry and textural blend of Colombard, Ugni-Blanc, Sauvignon, and Gros-Manseng.

They have done it again! This is my go to white for summer with a lovely lemony, floral lilt and powdery, perfumed nose. Gentle and bright with clean and crisp flavours of orchard fruits and white nectarine. Its uncomplicated and delicious with clean, crunchy fruits and a zippy, minerally finish. Ridiculous value. MYLES, PWS

  5. Wheeler Gamut Red Blend 2019
    Wheeler Gamut Red Blend 2019
Winemaker Dale Wheeler has been deeply immersed in the Victorian wine industry since 2012, relocating to Melbourne from Brisbane to study Viticulture and Winemaking. For a number of years he worked growing fruit and making wine within the Yarra Valley for Strenua, while also completing a number of vintages for other producers within the region and his experience shows. These are confident wines with lots of immediate appeal.

Gamut 2021 is a thirst-quenching medium-weight juicy red, perfect with a light chill. Made using 100% Upper Yarra Valley fruit, predominantly consisting of Merlot from Yarra Junction - lightly macerated and 40% whole bunch Pinot Noir from Gladysdale. Naturally fermented, with no other additions beyond sulphur prior to bottling. Unfined/unfiltered/vegan.

Plenty of red liquorice, mixed berries, and river rocks on the nose. A touch of soft spice and a savoury bay like note. The palate is crunchy and fresh with a lovely balance of sumptuous fruits and soft but present tannins shaping a delicious moreish finish. Perfect summer red and something you could throw a slight chill on if you were so inclined.

  6. Chateau Fontareche Corbieres Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2019
Chateau Fontareche Corbieres Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2019
The Fontarèche property, at the heart of Corbiere, has a long, illustrious and noble history dating back to 1201. Current proprietor, Jacques de Lamy took over from his father, Count Edouard de Lamy in 1957 where the de Lamy family has been in charge of the property since 1682.

Fontarèche work with 17 grape varieties of which their Carignan is held the highest regards. The vines are planted to the semi-desert Mediterranean climate trapped between the Atlantic and Mediterranean, the Atlantic breezes funnel through the mountain ranges that form the backdrop of the region and help to temper the summer heat in the vineyards retaining freshness and vibrancy in the wines.

Wonderfully lifted violets, mulberry and blue fruits all underlined by gentle smoke and graphite. The palate is brimming with a core of dark fruits, sweet and savoury notes with a really nice focus and buzzy energy. Really is surprising the level of subtle complexity at this price point that remains so easy to drink at the same time. Fast becoming a staff favourite! MYLES, PWS

  7. Bondar Fiano 2021
    Bondar Fiano 2021

"There must be a bit of magic behind Bondar. All of the wines have an ethereal quality" JANE FAULKNER, Halliday Wine Companion

We couldn't agree more. There does seem to be a little bit of magic going on behind the scenes here. Certainly great vineyards play their part here but a lot has to be said for what Andre Bondar is doing with the wines. Chat with him and he always reveals a beautifully considered and thoughtful approach to wine making that shines through.

Their fiano is spot on text-book style fiano but with a little extra flash of fruit and texture that is often either over-exaggerated or under-done in Italian examples. This version marries the varietals natural tendency to flesh out with a wonderful zip and freshness that pulls it together nicely. A touch of exotic tropical fruits and some lemony pith play off each other wonderfully. A little mineral twang keeps things interesting and while there is plenty of plush fruit it remains fresh and vibrant.

  8. Fontaleoni Chianti DOCG 2019
    Fontaleoni Chianti DOCG 2019
The 2019 Chianti Colli Senesi is a fresh, fruity red to drink now and over the next few years. Sweet red cherry fruit and floral notes are nicely lifted in this mid-weight, perfumed Chianti Colli Senesi. Best of all, the 2019 is a terrific value. ANTONIO GALLONI

Red fruited, spicy and attractively perfumed. As with the previous vintage this is a Chianti that is all about uncomplicated pleasure and it is built for enjoyment and to be consumed with food. Cherry and aniseed notes, somewhat gritty tannins and a faintly bitter twist of cherry pith on the finish all adding a little more interest and making me really want some salumi and to be sitting in the sunshine somewhere in Tuscany. Not sure what to say here, this wine seems to always deliver on quality verse hip pocket damage in a serious way. Outstanding value. ROSCOE

  9. Tomfoolery Young Blood Shiraz 2021
    Tomfoolery Young Blood Shiraz 2021

Another belter Shiraz from Chippy in the Barossa. He is a part of the new wave of Barossa producers turning out wonderfuly fresh, vibrant and modern wines with a knod to what makes the wines of the region so appealing to drink.

Dark fruits and deep-set spice greet you on the nose with along with a lovely licorice and earthy hit. The palate is forward and full of black, juicy fruit that goes on for ages. Some firm tannins give it nice structure but the wine as a whole remains soft and pliant. PWS

  10. Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2020
    Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2020

AA Badenhorst Family Wines are grown, made and matured on Kalmoesfontein farm in
the Swartland appellation of South Africa. The 28ha of old bushvines grow in the
Siebritskloof part of the Paardeberg mountain.

Cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst are at the helm of this fantastic estate with a rich history in the region. Adi was a founding member of the Swartland Revolution and Swartland Independent and is a parrot farmer, LP collector, egg poaching pro, tea connoisseur, Land Cruiser driver, ponytail wearer and local legend (just ask him).

Classic styled Cape Chenin but with a wonderful modern outlook. Floral and honey-dew melon with a touch of citrus and steely notes. The mouth has the lightest touch of sweetness that is quckly drawn out by the bone-drying acidity which lend a wonderful poise and light touch to the wine. This comes of dry, don't worry but has a lovely plush element to the fruit. Great stuff and may have you falling in love with Chenin and South African wines on one-foul-swoop! PWS

  11. Murdoch Hills The Ridley Adelaide Hills Pinot x3 2021
Murdoch Hills The Ridley Adelaide Hills Pinot x3 2021
Murdoch Hill under the guidance of Michael Downer is just kicking goals, left, right and centre. Not only does he make great wine but we think he is a bit of a bloody legend too! Michael formally trained as a winemaker at Adelaide University with stints in wine regions of the world and harvest experience in Adelaide Hills, Barolo, Italy, Great Western, Victoria. Then came home to lead the winemaking at Murdoch Hill. His approach is to make wines focused on being honest to their origins employing winemaking techniques that give freshness and vibrancy resulting in delicate but forward wines with wonderful energy.

This is his red blend of pinot noir, pinot meunier and pinot gris. We often gravitate to this wine when he comes to visit though everything he does is excellent. A bit of whole bunch throws up some exotic spice with a smokey underly from the meunier. A full gambit of bright red fruits, crunchy and juicy jostle for your attention while a fine film of soft tannins thread there way through the pristine fruit. It's plump fruit distracts you from its quite complexity and this would be equally at home on the dinner table or at a BBQ.
