Xanadu Wines was established in 1977 by Dr John Lagan. In 2005 it was purchased by the Rathbone family, and together with Glenn Goodall’s winemaking team they have significantly improved the quality of the wines. The vineyard has been revamped via soil profiling, precision viticulture, improved drainage and reduced yields. The quality of the wines made since the acquisition of the Stevens Road Vineyard in ’08 has been consistently outstanding. JAMES HALLIDAY

Glenn Goodall is making some of the greatest Chardonnay in Australia at the moment. He and his team are on fire at the moment. In saying that though they are justifiably more famous for their Cabernets which sit comfortably in the very top tier in Oz. The portfolio is nothing short of astounding across the entire range. Today Xanadu in the hands of Glenn and the Rathbone group are a force to be reckoned with in Margs.

Glenn has claimed the Jimmy Watson Trophy, James Halliday’s Wine of the Year and a swag of trophies at all the important shows. The accolades just keep piling up and he deserves all of them. ROSCOE
