BicknellFC

BicknellFC is the shed winemaking project of David Bicknell and Nicole Harris. The label design is inspired from the communion tokens that were used in Scottish villages. My father spent quite a bit of time around the Applecross in the north western highlands of Scotland, as a young man, hence the APX symbol. Around the symbol, the lines represent the waves and sands of that shallow bay. The tokens usually carried a message on the reverse side "This do in remembrance of me". In this project, the remembrance is for my late father and my origins.

Both of the 2011 wines both hail from the Bastard Hill vineyard near Gladysdale in the Yarra Valley. This is one of the highest and coolest vineyards in the region, in the coolest vintage on record. The wines are light bodied, fragrant and pure of fruit. A reflection of both the site and vintage. There is nothing particularly technical about the winemaking. DAVID BICKNELL
