Commune of Buttons

From the Adelaide Hills and a very promising new-ish wine label. The Button family live on a mixed agriculture farm in Basket Range parish, and now make wine there from their estate vineyard. Recent tasting, and this was out of the box. Natural ferment, low intervention winemaking, older oak barrels, nothing added aside touch of sulphur.

Commune of Buttons is the family winery/estate of Jasper Button and mum, dad, siblings. It’s an amphitheatre-like vineyard backed up against bushland in the Basket Ranges of the Adelaide Hills. They’ve been growing grapes for a fair while, but only recently started making wines under this label, with Jasper the driving force. The wines released so far have been rippers, the whole project a good vibe, and great that the hands touch dirt, grapes and whatever else (not much) that helps them to bottle. MIKE BENNIE
