SATURDAY JULY 16th  12pm - 2pm The Rhone valley has been a hub of wine culture since ancient times. It was formative in the development of the modern AOC system and today its popularity and notoriety among wine lovers makes it one of the most ubiquitous regions to drink from. A million years in the making it offers a diverse range of terroirs and varietals proving to be a go-to for many Australian consumers. The two distinct regions of the greater rhone could not be any more different and nor are the wines. As the Rhone winds its way from the town of Vienne to just south of Valence the rocky cliffs and crumbling vineyards jut out in striking form the steep, rocky hillsides with vines hanging precariously to its slopes. Syrah its chief red reaches it heights here with the likes of Cote-Roties and Hermitage benchmark examples - smokey, broody, structured and flecked with sweet spice and pepper. To the south the land starts to fallten out with rolling and undulating hills basking in the long Mediterranean summers. Its warm and sunny disposition the perfect foil for its superstar varietal grenache but equally at home with the likes of syrah, mourvedre and a bevy of other varietals. Here plush, round and pliant wines with generosity and sweet luxuriant fruit abound while at its peak villages like Chateneufe du Pape produce some of the worlds most ethereal and stunning wines. Join us Saturday for a selection of brand new arrivals and classic drops from this deverse and wonderfull region. It should be a real treat with some of the best vintages in the past decade on show from both the north and the south.
