12 - 2 pm Saturday 28th May - South Melbourne It's sometimes easy to forget how much amazing wine comes out of the USA. The tyranny of distance often precludes us from experiencing all the incredible selection of vinous gems they produce. Pinot, chardonnay and cabernet feature heavily of course but young up-and-coming producers are trying their hands (and succeeding) at a bevy of other varieties and injecting new energy to this already vibrant wine scene. So, with that mind we're delighted to have some brand spanking new gear from the USA that has just landed. You all know we import luminaries such as Littorai, Dunn, Peay and Forman but we're keen to introduce you to the brilliant range of wines from Kenny Likatprakong and his Hobo Wine Camp label. Hobo Wine Camp is new on the scene, working with top growers searching out quality, responsibly farmed, though lesser-known, vineyards throughout Sonoma County to produce delicious, approachable, and affordable wines. They've gained quite a following in recent years and we're rapt to be able to debut them to Australia via this tasting. At the same time we'll be showing new arrivals from boutique Carneros producer, Truchard Wines. A family-owned estate headed by Tony and Jo Ann Truchard and run by son Anthony. Starting out with just 20 acres in Carneros (where they were told it was too cold to ripen grapes) they have expanded their operations to include over 400 acres of vineyards today. Their dedicated team is committed to making classically styled, cool-climate wines out of the region. We will also be including a couple of other California producers, yet to be confirmed - watch this space! This will be a fantastic tasting and we encourage you to come down and join us for this is snapshot of the USA today and a little taste of California sunshine while the mercury slowly drops. Tickets are $15 refundable on purchases over $100.
