Dolcetto grown in the Barolo region, from vines planted between 1975 and 1977. 
Cherry, spice, some liquorice, a suggestion of pickled walnut, some floral notes. Fleshy, bright acidity, silty tannin, savoury new leather stuff, and plenty of tannin and hazelnut on a pretty good finish. Elemental as at now, but a lovely traditional version of Dolcetto here. GARY WALSH,

My wine of the year is Francesco Rinaldi's highly slurpable 2019 Dolcetto d'Alba. If there was ever a wine that could convince you we should be drinking more Dolcetto, then this is it. While Barolo and Barbaresco are the undeniable international stars of Piemonte, Dolcetto is it's heart and soul and a wine that is always on the Piemontese dining table and with examples like this, you can see why. Juicy dark red cherries are dusted with sweet cake spices and kept fresh by a jolt of bright acidity. This plush little package is knotted together wonderfully with a firm press of tannin, which sweeps across the palate to clean everything up at the back. The harmony and balance in this wine is exceptional and the real clincher is that you can pick it up for the price of an everyday table wine. ALEX DOBSON
