For at least two decades, the Clos la Coutale's wine has been unmistakable in flavour personality and offered terrific value. The Wine Advocate

This Domaine is one of the oldest in Cahors with records back before the French revolution. Philippe Bernede is the 6th generation of his family to make the wine here. Cahors is having somewhat of a rennaisence in the last 10 years as people re-discover this fantastic gastronomic region.

80% Malbec, 15% Merlot with a touch of Tannat makes the blend of this superb Cahors. The 60 hectares have south-west exposure and on the gentle slopes leading away from the river which contain alluvial clay, offering up red fruit notes and softer tannins than the higher plateau sites. Fermented in tank per parcel then are blended in January for the final cuvee. Transferred to new and seasoned oak barrels and foudre for one year elevage. PWS
