Bright, dark red. Reticent aromas of purple fruits, licorice and rose petal. Sappy and penetrating in the mouth, but more backward and imploded than the Clos de la Roche. A distinctly dark, even youthfully brooding style for Clos Saint-Denis but with excellent depth and juicy lift. Finishes firm and long. This wine is going to require patience. STEPHEN TANZER, vinous 2018

Once again a very pungent nose is composed by notes of wood toast and reduction. On the plus side there is first-rate elegance to the lilting and finely detailed flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel before culminating in a sneaky long and impeccably well-balanced finale that also flashes a touch of youthful austerity. Lovely. BURGHOUND
