Tasted about twenty something Martinborough Pinot Noir, in-situ, last week which was a pleasant enough task. This wine was first in the lineup and impressed me straight away. Vineyard planted in 1986 on its own roots, and I believe, perhaps unusually for Martinborough, has a high percentage of clay in the vineyard.

Cherry pip, plenty of spice, even a dusting of pepper, rosy perfume. Juicy natural feel, lively and sappy, red cherry layered with dried herb, dustiness to the tannin, and a long perfumed, sappy finish. Has personality and energy. It's very good and feels unforced and, well, just a bit lovely.(94) WINE FRONT
