The just bottled 2010 Arbois Réserve du Caveau was singing even if the operation often makes the wines shy. Not in this case, which showed beautifully nutty and with pungent flavors reminiscent of curry. The palate is almost salty. This Savagnin could be a mini Vin Jaune aged for some six years under a veil of yeasts, but maybe without the complexity and roundness of a true Vin Jaune. It has freshness and length, it's very lively and persistent, from a very balanced year with healthy grapes. The name Savagnin is not marked on the label, it only says Réserve du Caveau; that's the way to identify that it's Savagnin! (93) WINE ADVOCATE
