If you don't know Sylvaner well let's have a chat. The grape's parentage can be trace back to Traminer and Savagnin and it is most widely grown in Germany. The grape has slowly been sliding down the popularity ladder in recent years as the local's thirst for red varietals grows and other, more seemingly less interesting varietals like Muller Thurgau have taken over which is a damn shame.

A crisp, savoury single vineyard Sylvaner from the Koombahla vineyard in the upper reaches of the King Valley. In the right hands it is such a fantastic variety and Vignerons Smolzer & Brown are the right hands. They have coaxed so much flavour out of this varietal with its crunchy tree fruits, soft spice and slightly lifted, citrusy nose. Dry and refreshing, with delicate floral aromatics that build, savoury white herbs, textural phenolics, and lingering acidity. A combination of stainless and old oak fermentation adds to the complexity. The palate is a fresh and bright with a lovely mouthcoating feeling to the crystal clean fruits. Great stuff and almost too easy to drink. PWS
