Some recent changes to Hesket Estate are paying dividends with the recent releases of Pinot from 2018. In 2018 the transition to a more traditional, low intervention wine making process was emphasised with the view to capturing the terroir of Hesket Estate more fully.

Moving to natural yeast fermentation and natural malolactic transformation in conjunction with a careful selection of premium fine grain French oak, has enabled them to highlight vineyard nuance much better. With Doug Neal now at the winemaking helm and some recent awards under their belt this is one to keep a close eye on. PWS

Vivacious and juicy, with a musky, faintly floral bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, creamy vanilla oak and a whiff of mint and menthol. It's long, succulent palate of brightly lit red fruits is supported by a fine, slatey spine and reveals a sour-edged aspect, finishing with freshness and drive. A charming, flavoursome young CĂ´tes de Beaune style.  JEREMY OLIVER
