Airlie Bank 2019 - Pure Drinking Pleasure
Airlie Bank is the second label from Punt Road providing winemaker, Tim Shand, and the team a chance to enjoy some freedom to push boundaries and have a little fun whether it is varietal selection or wine-making techniques. This year they have dolled up their labels making everyone who drinks their ’19’s feel just a tad bit fancy.
The point here is: quality drinking under $20 and Airlie Bank truly delivers. This is some of the best quality under $20 coming out of the Yarra these days. There’s some review action below to underline the point but we have been championing these wines and they fly off the shelves without any extra hype.
I am pleased to offer you 15% off retail, bringing these wines under $20. Shipping is FREE with orders over $250 Australia-wide.
Yarra Valley Sauvignon Blanc is one of the varieties the Yarra Valley does best…Passionfruit, thistle, fennel, bright and cool line, frisky and crunchy, juicy tinned grapefruit segments and passionfruit tingle on a nice long finish. Goes down a treat. Fresh! GARY WALSH, The Wine Front
Nuts, cherry, raspberry, a little spice and sap. Fresh, bright, straight-down-the-line and juicy, some fresh strawberry acidity flavour and brighness on the finish, along with a gentle rasp of tannin. In some respects, has the easy drinking appeal of a bigger rosé, if you take my meaning. Regardless, it’s fun and very good to drink. And it’s nearly springtime, as I write. Spot on. GARY WALSH, The Wine Front
The 2019 Cabernet Franc delivers a bit of both. This is 100% carbonic maceration with blackcurrant, ripe raspberry and a heady spice box and wild garrigue note just lingering gently in the background. Light bodied, but plenty of concentration and packed full off juicy. small berried fruits, sappy green and spicy punctuations. The finish is cool and fresh with a little snap to the fruit to clean it all up. I dare you you have just one glass! Try it chilled. MYLES, PWS
