Annual Staff Picks 2020

Through rain, hail, sleet, snow, global pandemic, we will always have an Annual Staff Picks. This will be the first time we haven’t wound up our tasting schedule for the year with this line up. Instead, as has been the way for a lot of 2020, we are offering the wine to our customers to enjoy at home, with family and friends.

Most of you will be familiar with the general idea of the staff picks. All of our key crew are given a brief, select a wine, any wine, that you love and have been enjoying. There is no price restriction and no other hurdles. The only other thing is that the wine must be available for our customers to buy if they would like some. It doesn’t have to be the “best” wine they have drunk all year, it just has to be a wine they have really loved.

As always it’s an eclectic mix, there is Xinomavro (apparently it’s a grape variety), Shiraz from Great Western (probably the Best wine in the list), aged Australian Riesling, a couple of fantastic Piedmontese wines, Loire Chenin and more.

The crew always put a lot of work in to this selection. Everyone has their little anxiety over getting it just right. The list represents Prince Wine Store, in general, with its diversity of styles, regions, varieties and price points. It is always one of the most fun offers of the year and always full of great wine.
