Chateau du Rouet Cuvee Reserve Cotes de Provence Rose 2019
When the new vintage of Chateau Rouet Rose landed and we cracked a bottle last week. we were very excited. When Provence rose hits all the right notes it is a wonderful thing to behold, and this wine does just that.
It has a brilliant pale pink to delicate orange hue and looks stunning in the glass, gentle and delicate on the nose it’s like catching a hint of perfume from across a room. There’s a little spritz of red berries here and citrus there, with just a smattering of wildflowers. On the palate things get a little livelier, it’s juicy and vivacious with a mélange of red fruits, tangerine, pink grapefruit characters all playing their part. The finish is wonderfully taut and dry with a gentle bitter mandarin peel note delivering the coup de grace.
This is the best Chateau Rouet Rose we have seen to date and it is going to be a knockout hit this summer. This is a pleasure to drink on its own, but I think is a style that is highly underrated as a food wine. This rose can hold up to grilled poultry and fish, summer salads, and of course a big bucket of prawns.
