This entry-level category of Nebbiolo has been picking up enormous speed in recent years and for very good reason. This wine, the Mauro Veglio 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo Angelo, is accessible and easy-drinking, yet it offers a big dollop of varietal purity that grounds the wine in a special sense of place. The bouquet is redolent of wild berry, rose, tar and licorice, and there's just enough structure to pair with a pork chop grilled with onions and bell peppers. Fruit represents a blend of Nebbiolo from the Barolo appellation and from nearby Roero. MONICA LARNER, Wine Advocate

How gorgeous is this wine. Floral, perfumed, bright red fruits that run in to slightly overripe strawberry characters, a little hint of aged balsamic and fennel fronds lead you straight to what it is and where it's from. Supple and brimming with fruit that is inflected with that same gentle spice and a little vein of rocky minerality. Overall there is sense of buoyancy, a real come hither red. It urges you to drink it and so I did. After a little air the phenolics pop out a little and provide some grip, in general though its slippery and seductive. I absolutely love it. The perfect Tajarin and ragu wine. Super! ROSCOE
