Reid and Reid New Zealand Native Gins

Reid + Reid is was founded by brothers Stew and Chris Reid in Martinborough, New Zealand. With their backgrounds in engineering and beverage production, Stew and Chris set up Reid+Reid to challenge the perception of a "classic" gin and promote New Zealand's unique natural flora. The result: Reid+Reid, New Zealand native gin and now Barrel Aged Gin.

We were fortunate to meet Chris when he was working at Ata Rangi winery and we got chatting about our mutual love of gin. Then, nearly 5 years ago, this was a concept that Chris had been brewing up with his brother. Excited, we asked to keep in touch on the progress in case anything ever came of it but we never heard a peep... until the gins came across our desk years later from an importer here in Melbourne along with Chris himself - a very, pleasant surprise, and one we wanted to share.

What started with one gin is now a roster of craft gin, vermouths, Aperitivo (think Aperol) and even a nod to the great Pimm's Cup. They all have a strong focus on native New Zealand botanicals with kawakawa, manuka and horopito at the heart of the gins. Along with classic gin botanicals they are distilled in their custom-made, 200 litre copper pot still.

This is a fantastic project and great story. Most of all though, these are excellent gins that happily and easily take on the status quo in what seems to be an ever expanding market..
