Rocca di Montegrossi Back Vintage Offer

There is a lot of wine made in Chianti, but at the top you will find just a handful of producers who are making truly remarkable and engaging wines. In that elite group, which include the likes of Isole e Olena and Querciabella, stands Rocca di Montegrossi and Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi. Marco’s family history is written into the very wines themselves with his ancestor Baron Ricasoli being credited with having been the creator of the now world renowned Chianti Classico.

History does not make great wines however, but Marco and the team at Rocca di Montegrossi surely do. From their outstanding Chianti Classico offering to their deep and structured San Marcellino, to their spectacular Super-Tuscan Geremia, the wines that come from Rocca di Montegrossi are of the highest pedigree.

These are wines that are made in a style too that allows them to develop and blossom with bottle age. They can seem a little reserved and tightly wound upon release but the joy they will bring with a few years under their belt is well worth the wait. Their Chianti Classico in particular is one of those rare wines in the category which really lends itself to decent time in the cellar. Aged Chianti Classico is vastly underrated and underappreciated in my opinion. The best wines, such as these from Rocca di Montegrossi, will shine bright with age, blending those classic sour cherry notes with wonderful layers of sweet earth, leather and tobacco characters that soar out of the glass and whisk you away to the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Today, I am excited to be able to offer out some exceptional back-vintage releases from this iconic estate. We have a number of vintages of their benchmark Chianti Classico on offer as well as older releases of the excellent San Marcellino and Geremia wines. This gives buyers a rare opportunity to purchase wines that have been aged with excellent provenance and which will provide a wonderful drinking experience from now forward.
