Yes, you saw correctly – the limited “Mini Tolpuddle” Pinot is back in stock, but only while supplies last. With only 100 bottles available this is guaranteed to sell out and this time we can’t promise a return of the product. Customers who already purchased off of the previous offer have already gotten in touch for more of this juice. Starting to sound like a broken record: if you have not yet taken a chance on this Pinot now is the time!
The Other Wine Co offers a fantastic range of wines which are all listed below. Grab a couple other varietals to keep you stocked for the winter – The savings are over 15% making these wines pretty irresistible. Keep in mind orders for the Pinot Noir will be based on first in best dressed.
The Other Wine Co is Shaw + Smith’s free-spirited brainchild. The venture allows the creative team to express their experimental side giving them the freedom to source fruit grown wherever and then play with different techniques to coax the best result out of any given variety. The lessons learnt here are ploughed back into making the Shaw & Smith and Tolpuddle figurehead wines even better. Along the way they realised they were making some pretty smart wine and finally put it under its very own label – The Other Wine Company!
Best evidence of late has been the 2019 Pinot Noir which comes from declassified fruit from the Tolpuddle vineyard in Tasmania. The Cabernet Franc is equally as cool – coming from Kangaroo Island. These two wines are in limited supply – with only 120 bottles of the Pinot and a shade more of the Cab Franc.
The core range that you may be familiar with from previous vintages includes the ever-loved Grenache (McLaren Vale), Shiraz/Pinot (Adelaide Hills), and the Pinot Gris (Adelaide Hills). Feel free to mix and match to make up a dozen. Shipping is free with orders over $250 throughout Australia.
As always, if you’d like to place an order you can follow the “Buy Now” buttons below, reply to this email, or give me a call at 0468 480 244. Alternatively you can call your local PWS.
Stay well and drink even better,

Pinot Gris is an aromatic white grape variety widely planted across a number of regions throughout Europe including Romania, Switzerland, Italy (where it is known as Pinot Grigio) and France, where it’s most renowned. And while it’s grown in small quantities in Burgundy and the Loire Valley, it is in Alsace (located on the eastern Franco German border) where Pinot Gris is planted on highly regarded grand cru vineyard sites, producing truly unique and powerful wines that this variety reaches its zenith. Alsace Pinot Gris Alsace possesses a unique combination of fruit sweetness, spice and high acidity producing rich wines which in their youth the spice and fruit characters of peach, apricot and ginger are predominant and develop into savoury characteristic of biscuit, butter and nuts with age. Pinot Gris is also use to produce the great late picked wines of Alsace, Vendange Tardive and Selection de Grains Nobles, the former which consist of late picked fruit with minimum sugar level which can be either dry or sweet. The latter is a lusciously sweet wine produced with botrytis affected fruit. Outstanding producers include Trimbach, Domaine Weinbach, Marcel Deiss, Hugel, Zind Humbrecht and Jean Luc Mader.
Pinot Gris has developed new popularity in the New world in Australia, New Zealand and USA. Notable regions include Oregon (USA), Mornington Peninsula, Tasmania (Australia), Central Otago and Martinborough. Outstanding producers include Elk Cove (Oregon), Archangel (Central Otago), Ata Rangi and Dry River (Martinborough), Paradigm Hill and Ocean Eight (Mornington Peninsula).
