Virtuel Tour de France 2020

This 'virtual' cycling challenge is the project of Pike Talbert, a keen amateur cyclist based in Sydney. In parallel with the 'real' Tour de France from 29th August to 20th September, Pike and some game friends intend to complete their own Tour Virtuel: 23 stages in 21 days all in the climate-controlled comfort of their homes.

The route, although not identical to the real Tour, will start in Nice (like the real Tour) and finish on the summit of France's iconic Alpe d'Huez. Riders will simulate the real-world cycling experience by viewing each stage on screen using GoPro cinematography, and smart trainer technology provided by FulGaz.

At the conclusion of each stage, Pike will compile a Ride Report. This Report will include commentary by his friend David Lowes on the wine regions visited (plus a few others). David, who is almost as fond of wine as Pike is of cycling, will also suggest a Vin du Jour for each stage. A selection of these wines is available for purchase here - either individually, or in this specially curated Mixed Dozen.

The Tour de France Virtuel is a labour of love; it is Pike's and David's way of sharing what they enjoy. Neither are raising money for any cause or are involved commercially with any party.
