STARTS: 6.30m FINSHES: 8.30pm LOCATION: Bellota Wine bar There is no doubt that Giant Steps is one of the Yarra’s leading wineries and with Mel Chester the new head of winemaking and viticulture it marks a brilliant new chapter for the estate. Prior to this Mel was head winemaker at Sutton Grange where she, in a short time, took the already excellent wines to the next level with her deep understanding of vineyard and site. She has won several accolades for her work including the Wolf Blass prize for “excellence in winemaking’ and was an integral part of the team at the esteemed Seppelt estate, one of just many among the list of Aussie icon wineries she has worked. Her pedigree is second to none and she brings a considerable set of skills, knowledge and winemaking experience to the already brilliant team at Giant Steps where they have long hung their hat on their incredible selection of single-vineyard chardonnays and pinot. Mel continues working closely with founder Phil Sexton to push the quality of the program even further. This supper will feature the latest release of the 2021 single vineyard pinot and chardonnays where Mel will be joining to take us through the detail and nuance of this excellent set of wines. For those attending it will be a first look and chance to purchase what is an extremely limited and highly anticipated set of new releases from the Giant Steps stable.
